I think it’s funny how Matt started out as such a nothing character. He’s in the manga for a couple pages, and in the anime he makes only a couple appearances up until he gets shot to death. Yet some how he got popular with the fandom. I don’t get it. And then the creator of the manga reveals that Matt actually grew up in the orphanage with Near and Mello. Not only that but apparently he was the third smartest kid there. If Near and Mello both died, he’d be the one to succeed L. What the hell? You think he always planned that for the character or was he just pandering to the fandom?
