One way to tell late 52s from early 52s is the front vent windows were absent in the early 52s. Less easy to spot is that in late 52 they reduced the size of the wheel rims from 16 to 15 inches. Thankfully all 52 VWs still had the wonderful rear split window.

What a great video. It's nice to see footage of Baja that isn't all about trophy trucks. It brought back fond memories of when I co-drove with my cousins in his bug. I remember the taste of the dust. Good times!

Little gem you got there. Shows really well, like the color. For some reason I thought zwitterss had crotch coolers. I own a 62 currently, but it was lowered by previous owner. Not a big fan of how it rides might end up selling if I can line up another one first.

We went to this beach because we wanted to see the birthplace of Ka'ahumanu, high ranking wife of King Kamehameha. She was born in a cave on the other side of this hill. It was beautiful & uncrowded and sure enough the sand is red. Nice swimming place. Not great snorkeling, tho.

Lovely video. It looks like you hiked the AlaNui trail into Hana town? Did you see the fishing shrines all along the AlaNui? We stayed there & we hiked into town & back. Except for the mosquitoes it was lovely. We also stayed In the cabins once. Cheap digs & lovely experiences.

Larger engine with increased 1131 cu. in., horsepower increased from 25 to 30, 5). 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears are synchromesh; formerly crash box, 6). Glove compartment door is added; formerly open bin, 7). Redesigned instrument panel, including the redesigned speedometer with a needle parked at “0” on the lower left of the dial: formerly the upper right, 8). 15 inch tires was introduced; formerly 16 inch tires, 9). “T” shaped handle was introduced on rear deck lid; formerly open loop type, 10). Smoother and stronger reinforce bumpers with small vertical guards are added; formerly “fluted” bumpers, 11). Window crank makes 3 and a half turns; formerly 10 and a half turns, 12). Turn signal lever moved to steering column on the left; formerly a knob on the dashboard, and 13). Horn grilles are oval shaped instead of circular shaped.

Best message Never give up! A good friend Ed Picket and I raced in 2003 in a class 11 built in the alleys of Ocean Beach. We made it to Mikes Sky Ranch and saw tail lights. We did not have a radio and were not aware check points have been extended. We headed back to Ensenada but felt happy we made 250 of the 500 mile trek. Good for you sharing with those kids!!
