Meraviglioso! Shades of “Outburst of Joy” amid using the piano fully. A genius with sound. Beautifully played and so difficult!!

Excellent performance. A bit too fast at times for my taste, but that's a matter of preference.

I like the finale of this recording better than Hamelin's.

When a melody comes in a dream, this is one. 👻 There are gazillions... They come quickly and effortlessly, These just take the time to record or annotate. When you don't save them, sometimes they will be lost to the ages. 🌙

Amazing ideas but suffers from a rather unconvincing piano writing and a weird dynamic between the orchestra and the soloist. Most of the time, the piano feels more like a textural background for the orchestra

9:23 Prokofiev is asking a lot of any pianist here to have the strength and endurance required to keep driving this brilliant passage through to the end. The sense of struggle is real no matter who is playing. Richter's live performance in 1974 is not as clean as this but it's a more cataclysmic ending because of the drama of the left hand chords are brought more into the foreground.

Something about this 1st movement really gets me. It's like a different world. It really sounds like God, his soft mystical side. God whispering to a persons soul as they pray to the Saviour. Messiaen is a genius.
