I grew up during Vietnam. I wasn't old enough to serve. By the time I was able to j I in, my Squadron still had plenty of Nam VETS. Big healthy men all of a sudden run cowering under equipment or inside. I didn't understand. ((My father never shared the shit that happened in Vietnam)) So I was clueless until I was stuck in the boonies when I Thunderstorm rolled in. The flashes and booming came from all around. I THEN UNDERSTOOD THIESE HEROES and the horrific shit they went through. From this Air Force vet, I'll stand with you if you need a shoulder.

God bless each and every soldier who fought for us. My daddy was KIA in Vietnam in 1967 when I was 7. I’m almost 65 and still cry for him. May each soldier who made it home find peace somehow, someway. You are all in my prayer. God. Bless and may we never forget. Blessings, Holly

Left Iraq in Sept 2009. I can point out on a map where that IED was. Where the SVBIED exploded. The exact point on the road that we knew shit was about to pop off. Burned in my memory. John 15:13

On my second deployment we lost 19 men. I didn’t know how tangible and physical fear could be. We stood our ground but none of will ever be the same. Thank God for my wife who has helped me to recover.

Check out a song when I got back, I Miss My War - Chad Everett. First line describes that, "Since I've been back, I haven't really left." Glad you're here brother.

I just want to say, I spent 32 years in the military with many combat deployments. A lot of you folks bad mouth this country. No issues, that’s your right. However it’s based on lack of info as most of you have never been overseas. My friends, I will swear to you, this is the greatest nation in the world. I know we have issues, but I am telling you now you are so lucky.

I lost my veteran in the summer of 2009. A brave man and a wonderful son, brother, nephew cousin, husband, father, and grandfather. My brave Green Beret solider who taught me that life is beautiful even when things look so ugly outside. He taught me to always keep a kind heart even when the world beats you down.

22 a day is 8030 a year. 2420 US service members died in Afghanistan to enemy action and 4825 in Iraq. That means more vets die every year at their own hand than all of the KIA in all of the years of the GWOT. We, as a nation , should commit all the resources we did to these heroes as a fighting force equally into their long term health. When they were on the front lines, their budget was unlimited.
