@@heythave u r right that typically, the rainy season in jp starts early June. I was blessed by good weather during most part of my trip, except for the day we arrived hokkaido & a day in Sounkyo where it drizzled.

Although it was a driving trip for me, i believe it will still be fun travelling within Hokkaido using train and buses although you may not want to visit some of the attractions that are too remote. Just need more planning and sticking to the plan especially in term of timings of the public transport. It is now easy to google the timetable for the trains/buses.

If you like nature, Nagano is also a great place to visit, especially Kamikochi, which by the way, private vehicles are restricted within and in the vicinity of this nature park.

@@heythave i think u need to b at least 18yo but i understand some rental car compabies may hv their own age restrictions, typically requiring drivers to b at least 21 or 25 yo.
