People play fight like they're using lightsabers.. if you're going to fight.. fight.. I have 30 years of Filipino martial arts under my belt with multiple knife fights and stick fights.. when you fight, you fight.. you guys are playing

I don't know anything about Filipino martial arts, but I'm sure it's enjoyable. This is longsword fencing, under the umbrella of historical European martial arts and it's simply low key free sparring. Check out some other videos on other channels if you're interested in some more competitive stuff, tournament footage, etc to get a better idea of what it involves. :-)

Fun, light sparring allows for more experimentation and more reps. More reps = more learning. Look at Muay Thai fighters who train light and safe for competitions. This is 100% valid and awesome to watch!

It's historical European martial arts (HEMA), so there is a lot of protective gear being worn, including shin and knee guards.

@TheRealUndead05 ай бұрын
It's called HEMA or historical European martial arts. They essentially study all the old af sword fighting manuals and try to teach themselves to fight with swords the way they were originally intended to be used. It's real historical swordfighting techniques. Just see if theres a HEMA dojo in your area and go there. Its expensive though
@McSwordio5 ай бұрын
HEMA indeed. We are doing longsword here. This is an informal group of friends who meet up to spar weekly. The majority of us have trained at HEMA clubs over the years. Many major cities in the US have clubs at this point, and there are also tournaments. ⚔️It's very fun!

When it's someone birthday, you celebrate by having your friends/club mates line up and spar you. One exchange (hit/stab/etc) for every year that you've been alive. In my case 36 exchanges. 😎

I like how the chubby guy performs. Shows that skill is more important than physical shape (to a certain degree, of course) and that you don't have to be as fit and lean as one would imagine to be an effective combatant. Like, you may look at the Red Baron from The Witcher 3 and think that he's a clumsy old alcoholic chonker that's way past his prime and hence can't be a serious threat in personal combat.
