I think this is one of the last interviews of Roy in this ilk before the Overlap. He says he is not guarded but he obviously is. I think in the overlap he has let his hair down and I feel Ian Wright has helped with that.

He's the luckiest man alive. I'd trade the next 40 years of my life to have an hour in the presence of Brian Clough ❤

Keane was a great midfielder, in a great selection of players. World class in some cases. But he's right, those players around him made the difference, he was not in their class. What he does have, is that attitude and demand of leadership. Winning is everthing, parcipation just means you turned up. Look at the player to your right and left, do you feel they are good enough?

Obviously the Irish preparations were second rate, but does anyone know why? Were they just stingy or did they simply not have the money?

Micha isn't the biggest player, a lot of people don't know him...but he was doing what a friend should do, as Keane would say: good lad

As a west ham of 57 years old, disliked Keane and any player who pulled on the manure shirt...😂😂 Great interview, Keane speaks well and is his own man, good luck Roy, enjoy the family mate...

The great thing about Roy is his honesty. Some love/hate him for it but will always respect it. Never shyed away from difficult conversations on or off the pitch. Then again he is a Cork man, so would you expect anything different! Honest and loyal to the bone.

It sounds to me like he was looking for the guts of what an elite player goes through. You hear a lot of the same things from many athletes about work, about this about that for how they got where they got. It's the mental and emotional struggle they never seem to focus on, or maybe remember. Tommy struggles with mental health I'm pretty sure from all I've seen of him, so he was trying to relate to Roy.
