Complete horror. Sensor never got recognized, tried 3.3 volts and 5 volts as stated, multiple data pins but to no avail, eventually shorted the ESP making it very hot blinking a red LED

Thankyou for this video, great tutorial. One thing id like to add is custom temp sensors ive added to my Cerbo(Rpi). I can show these temp sensors in the overview but the value is always unknown. Could you offer any help?

Thank You. I followed your instructions step by step and got it to work. I only wished it would show even more enteties like different readings for L1, L2 and L3.

2:00 It's the other way around. 12V is not part of the USB PowerDelivery spec but some power supplies support it anyway and some devices require it.

hello When the temperature sensor is connected to ESP 32 and I use it with a battery or a good mobile charger or an industrial switching source, the device works without problems, but after switching from a switching source in a place where single-phase and 3-phase electric motors work. They say that sensor information is not received. What do you think I should do?

I‘m looking for a solution that controls the energy flows externally, i.e.: both load current and battery current in/out need to be sent as fixed settings from HA, using automation commands. The reason: I already operate inverters from SMA together with a sunny home manager, which already balances the energy flow to/from the grid. But I need additional battery inverter power, which only can be controlled manually by using certain criteria different from those the SMA sunny home manager uses. Does anybody know if this can be done as I described it above?

Hello, Perfect video. I need to make sensor for my smoker. I am planning to use the Dallas for the smoker temperature but need second sensor which will be meat sensor. Do you know by any chance if there is any I can use with one Dallas the same way you are using 2 Dallas's? The smoker is like 150ft from home. I am afraid it might be too far for this board. What do you think? Would you please have any suggestions? Thank you very much!

I don't know about different sensor types, but I did a quick google search and others have gotten the Dallas DS18B20 sensor to work over 100ft of CAT 5 wire. Heres a link to the page. forum.arduino.cc/t/ds18b20-length-of-wires-limitation/496404

What if you have a very long probe cable? I have a 15m cable connected to a wifi temp sensor right now but want to change it to an ESP board to get faster reporting. Do I still need the resister if I have this length cable?? Thanks.

I managed to integrate Victron VRM into home assistant, but with a small problem: the data is only available when I connect with my VRM application on my phone. As soon as I am no longer connected via my application, the data is no longer updated in home assistant. How to fix this problem ?

This really is a great video. However, This can also be done with the 'HACS' Add-on using the 'Victron GX modbusTCP integration'. It passes through all possible data and is far easier to install and configure.
@pamsi1976
@pamsi1976 3 ай бұрын
yes, but modbus TCP is not mqtt , pretty different! mqtt is faster and more secure then modbus! Modbus is old, master-slave, you have to ask the client for every connection, mqqt the client push all nesecarry data as well!
@melonmonkeygarage7735
@melonmonkeygarage7735 3 ай бұрын
I originally looked into going that route, but some people online said that modbus was not as stable for them. That is why I decided to use MQTT.

Wow, mind blown 🤯 This is an amazing crash course in MQTT and Victron and Home Assistant. I have all these systems living on islands because I’ve never had any luck with setting up the MQTT broker. This was a high speed crash course that delivers so much information into a highly compressed timeline. Great job.

great Video !!! I like to add more entities, start with one grid power I copy all exactly as loads just change values too much my mqtt but can't get them visible in the HA :( # AC Grid - state_topic: "victron/N/my id /system/0/Ac/Grid/L1/Power" name: "AC Grid" unique_id: "ac_grid" device_class: power value_template: '{{ value_json.value }}' unit_of_measurement: "W" icon: mdi:power-socket-uk am I missing some step?

check MQTT Explorer if you can find the right name and value, mine was in this location "victron/N/MYID/grid/30/Ac/L1/Power". So it all depends how the installer has set it up.

If you are runnig Venus OS 3.20 or later you can avoid message flood by publishing '{ "keepalive-options" : ["suppress-republish"] }' on 'victron/R/YOUR-SERIAL-NUMBER/keepalive' using a periodic timer, and to get all topics (like first connection) you can publish to the same 'keepalive' topic but with no message and it will query all topics. Hope this helps :)

@juanpierredutoit4293

Just pop in your homeassistant IP into explorer "If you are on Windows you use \\<IP_ADDRESS>\, if you are on MacOS you use smb://<IP_ADDRESS> to connect to the shares." Thats where you enter the Samba creds you made.

First of all thank you! Your video helped show me how the resistor is soldered between the data and power wires. And I loved the box you used! Going to order one to help make it more presentable. Im using this for the same thing, except I’m monitoring 4x tanks per ESP board and using HomeAssistant to flick a Kasa outlet for my heaters. I’m going to share this with my fellow fish club members, so easy! :D
