Great vid! Went spring bear hunting last may near Adams lake and didn't even realize we have a target range that starts with number 5 at the front in BC... Did you guys find that you would reduce lots of elevation in cold winter? Or is it at 500 it's just not a noticeable difference?

Now that rifle is a killer!! I have a couple of Kimbers, an Adirondack in 308, and a mountain ascent in 7mm mag, but I would love to own one in 280ai! I changed the skeletonized bolt knobs for Kimber SS tactical knobs, which I really like. Added a 'little' weight but worth the extra traction imo.

Yesterday I got an error that I haven’t seen covered anywhere (not even in the manual): “POSSIBLE INTERFERENCE DETECTED. MOVE AWAY FROM LIKELY SOURCES: FANS, HVAC, FLUORESCENT LIGHTS, OTHER RADARS OBSTRUCTED VIEW.” I was by myself at an open range during day time, the only electric/electronic devices close by were my cellphone and my ear protection (I turned it off and didn’t see the message anymore, but this could be a coincidence). The range is next to a highway and many trucks have short range radios… (the type that makes speakers go nuts) I also got some low velocity “ghost shots” with the unit calibrated for subsonic pistol rounds even when there were no rounds going down range. With rifles, it worked flawlessly from .22lr to 44 magnum.
@bcextremeoutdoorsman4 күн бұрын
Hi, I have never seen or had those errors and I have never heard of anyone else getting one of them. Thats strange hopefully it is just a one time event. I have never had any ghosting shots before either. Have you done all of the updates on your unit ? Was it fully Charged ? If it happens again I would contact Garmin and see if they have any answers. Thanks for watching and reaching out to me, I wish I had better answers for you. Take care and shoot straight my friend.
@VincitOmniaVeritas74 күн бұрын
@bcextremeoutdoorsman yup: fully updated and charged. The ghost shots might have something to do with the fact that I was shooting a pistol at only 10 yards (only later I remembered that you should give the chronograph at least 20 yards to measure the bullet). I also left my ammo in front of the unit, so maybe my hand picking rounds triggered it? I have no idea. Regarding the error message, I will email Garmin if I get it again. It is important to noticed that when I switched for 25 yards to zero my .22lr and test some 44 loads, I had zero problems (it recorded 200+ rounds, with the only exception being my fault for bumping the chronograph and misalign it). Thanks for the help nonetheless!

If you can't put 5 cold bore shots on a dessert plate sized target at any given range with +95% consistently under field conditions/positions...then you shouldn't be taking shots at that range in a live animal. For most people that will be between 200-300 yards...if you're well practiced it might be between 300-400 yards. Only the most experienced shooters will be able to make those shots at +400 yards with +95% cold bore accuracy. And sorry, but expensive guns/gear will almost never make up for consistent training. Ethical "Long range hunting" is largely a myth being used to help market/sell more guns...and it's resulting in a lot of wounded animals.
@bcextremeoutdoorsman17 күн бұрын
@@2dclxvi I agree with you. But knowing where your cold bore shot hits is very important. This is all just for fun, it’s a challenge. Don’t put too much into it. @2dclxvi17 күн бұрын
@@bcextremeoutdoorsman You're making my point for me...I'm sure you are very experienced and have all the top gear...but the reality is that it's still not enough to overcome all the variables needed to make ethical 1st round cold bore shots at the long range distances that many firearms manufacturers are pretending an average (and far less experienced than you) shooter should be capable of.

How many game bags do you need for a male moose?
@bcextremeoutdoorsman20 күн бұрын
Hi John, it all depends and how you are going to pack it out. If you are going to take it out in 1/4s then you will need 4 big bags. If you are going to pack it out you will need 4 bags for the legs then about 4-5 more bags for the back straps, tenderloins, neck meat, ribs etc. Also depends on how heavy of a load you can pack. But the more bags the better. Look at the Huto game bags if you are looking for some, he has kits with the right amount of bags you will need for an animal. Check the bags out at Hutolifestyle.ca Thanks for watching and the comment, take care.

I was in a shooting team at school and a person used to come in and coach us every now and again who had been in Korea in the artillery and I always remember him saying There was a big temperature changes between daylight and dark which meant he claimed which I think or very sure there was a 1500 yards that shows my age we’re now metres difference that they had to change the sites even though I don’t live there now I did come from NZ but we didn’t get the cold that I see on a lot of programs and Alaska in Canada. As for the meat we just hang and once cooled it goes 20 feet up a tree on the meat poles we erected. Hey brother… you do not ever need to do the “not a monster” apology thing… ever. That is an amazing buck. Beautiful animal in his prime… no two are ever the same they are truly unique… God’s creation. It is always a blessing to harvest a big game animal… size is only a minor aspect of what defines the value or quality of a hunt. Each and every animal harvested is as special as the unique experience of the hunt itself. Also… footage of the kill is nice to get, but also overrated… I respect hunters who prioritize the hunt and the recovery over the footage. Missing the shot footage is part of it… it’s real and I prefer reality personally. Congratulations! 😊👍🏼

Hi Trevor, Thank you my friend. I was very happy with buck I got and I still am. I would harvest another just like it next year if the opportunity arises. It was so cold out my camera batteries were not lasting so I had to keep them in a pocket to keep them warm. It is a little overrated but as a videographer I like to try and get as much action as I can. But like you said, missing the shot footage is just part of it. I can't get it right all the time.
