We where never really the closest but it still broke my heart when my teacher came into my class and told my class the news. I couldn’t believe our school had lost such a great student. It’s been a hot minute since it happened but I still cry over him and I just wish he could still be here 🌼✨

It has taken me until now to watch this video, though I was there at the funeral and at the balloon release. I had known Leon for about two years and like to think that I was in some part a positive influence and a mentor to him, but, more than that, a friend, despite our huge age gap! I spent a lot of time with Leon and though most of our exchanges - well certainly his to me - were based on taking the mickey and on bantering insult, this was his way and a boyish / blokey front when, in reality we genuinely respected and liked each other. I spent a lot of 1 to 1 time with him in the last couple of weeks and noticed - and remarked - how he was developing from a boy 'with a good heart' into a decent and honourable young man. I had high hopes and expectaions of him and I know I was far from alone in this. All snatched away in an instant. My thoughts are with you Leon and with your family. I realise that, while I thought I was helping you through life, you were such a positive influence on my life too.
