I wanted to play an anime song on my last school festival. Sadly, I went on a trip and missed the entire thing. I just graduated and I’m lowkey very sad. This song captures my sadness just like it did the anime, in all its justice

This was my first custom keyboard that I built during covid. It was my daily driver for a while until I got a QK65. When I first got it, I had gateron Yellows in there. I liked it but thought it felt a bit stiff so I decided to get some Boba u4Ts and try to replicate the famous Fjell build by Taeha types. Obviously it didn’t turn out the same, but I still love the sound and I think the spacebar still pops sufficiently lol. The spacebar is flipped around because there was some terrible warping on the front end- to a point that it literally would pop off the keyboard if I pressed to one side. That’s what I get for buying knockoff pbt keycaps though lmfao. Not sure why it works fine flipped but I vastly prefer it that way. One day I might try to get real gmk shoko keycaps for this board. Initially I used holee modded kbdstabs, but I didn’t like how mushy it made the stabilizers feel. I tried durock V2 stabs as well and spent the next few months frustrated with how they felt and constantly tuning/relubing them lol. I think I like the end result though and I’ll probably always be fond of this keyboard for being my first.

This was my third build after the murphpad and KBD75. I am very fond of the look of this keyboard, and I mostly use it for typing on my phone because I got the tri-mode PCB. This was the second run of the original QK65 (which was only a couple weeks after the first), and it was my daily driver for a couple years. Initially it had Alpaca V2 switches in it, but I switched those out and put them in my Neo Ergo recently. Now it has SP Star Meteor orange, and I vastly prefer their sound signature in this board (I also think the gray housings fit the aesthetic of this board lol). If there was one thing I could change about this board, it would probably be the stabs. I’m not a huge fan of the owlstabs because I found them difficult to tune without turning mushy. You might be able to hear it in this video- I’m not sure. I would probably choose to get TX stabs or something but I don’t have time to disassemble the board at this very moment. Perhaps I’ll do that in the future but for now I’ll stick with what I have.

I built this thing two years ago as my second board because I was worried about not having a numpad with my KBD75. I honestly don’t use a numpad too much anymore, but it was extremely fun to build (and complicated compared to most keyboard kits). I use it as a macropad mostly- muting/deafening on discord, going to the next/previous song in a playlist, etc. I am quite fond of it, and the wolf on the bottom seems to have aged exceptionally well (with all the sigma wolf memes coming out recently). This was my first time soldering a keyboard, and I never got the surface-mount LEDS on the bottom correct so I just excluded them from the build lol.

It’s been a while since I’ve been active in the keyboard hobby, and in the time I was gone the budget scene seems to have gone crazy. I only just bought this board recently and it’s become one of my favorites- yet it’s one of the cheapest I have lol (I remedied this by getting expensive keycaps compared to what I normally get). I used the switches that were in my QK65- I just soldered them in and put different switches in my qk lol. I’m not sure if the hype has passed for them but I still love Alpacas. I don’t see them being used too often in keyboards online anymore though, and I don’t see them being recommended too often either.

alpacas are timeless, but with time as with any hobby, companies push new switches onto content creators which generates hype for those switches. always great to have options though, board sounds great.

@@apapodnac Thank you! I wasn't sure if Alpacas had gone out of style or what because I haven't seen them mentioned on a lot of online keyboard spaces. This will probably be my main board for a while lol.

I think I could’ve done a better job on the stabs with this one- this was my first time using Gateron’s ink V2 stabs, and when you unclip the wire it sort of “deforms” the plastic on them. You have to push the plastic back into place to fix it when you place the wire back in. I forgot this step on the enter key so it’s a little rattly. Otherwise I quite like the stabilizers. I’ve used them for a couple boards and they work pretty well. I’ve had more trouble with Durock V2 stabs, which (as far as I can tell) used to be “the” stabs to go for. It’s been a while since I’ve been active in the hobby though, so I’m sure plenty of things have changed- almost all switches I know of are still the popular switches from the COVID-era. The budget scene seems to have gone crazy too- so many premium boards being sold at such low prices lol.

The piano has been in a storage closet between performances for at least 20 years, probably more. It’s not been cared for much. In fact we only started bringing it out last year specifically because I requested it (the other option was a keyboard with 5 octaves, which would literally make pieces like this impossible). It’s definitely on the lower end in terms of pianos I’ve played on.

@@riggedgame1189 ahh i understand. But then ill apologize. I have played piano in a hotel and it was very broken. Keys didnt work and it was untuned. But the piece was still hearable. Btw props to you. Rach has some difficult pieces like this 💪

This showed up in my recommended. Interesting idea, however I'm not sure that building a game just for this purpose will create enough incentive to get stuff done. One idea could be to work with your schools IT team to allow students more internet privileges when they get things done in a timely manner (more relaxed site blocking for online games)

Thank you very much! I definitely played too fast-- I was very nervous (this was the first time I had performed at my school). Ordinarily I finish at around 4 minutes but this performance lasted slightly over 3. That speed especially messed me up in the sections at 3:18 and 3:44 (and in general I think it sounded rushed). I have another recording of it when I was not so nervous. I made a few mistakes in this recording but overall I like it much better. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKTcoIapmtmkfM0
