I love Grens, they're good main-line infantry with an AT snare and a decent grenade, plus they can serve as secondary engineers with their defensive buildings. Though once tanks and elite infantry start getting made, I usually turn them all into Jagers with a 50/50 split AT and G43 upgrades, then slap 'em on tanks and serve as a QRF for the rest of my team.

I will never understand why the 120 mm mortar is so strong and yet when you kill its crew except for one its still able to get away safely. Most support weapons except MGs need 2 but this beast only needs one guy.

@@jeremyjackson7429 I dont know about that. All other factions still only get 4 crew members. Being allowed to lose 4 out of 5 member and still be able to operate the weapon is still far too good for what this thing can do.

@@jeremyjackson7429 The howitzer cannot retreat and i think it the crew abandons the weapon if only one member remains. I think the american howitzer is much nicer to play against.

I think the pak howitzer is also decrewed once it reaches 2 squad members, so after 4 model drops. Whereas, the heavy mortar requires all 5 models to be killed. In tournaments they mod the 120mm mortar to remove its retreat ability for balance. I don't remember but they possibly also making it require 2 models

I used Mobile Assault Regiment. I find it a very strong commander. The Royal Engineer Recovery squads have faster repair speeds, smoke grenades, and a flamethrower upgrade so a great early game unit that scales well. The commandos are very strong either as an ambush unit or like obersoldaten if you give them brens. Then the land mattress gives you an answer in the late game against a very defensive opponent

i love the merge ability, its gets to the point where i only reinforce with merging grens into somthing else, and just keep a 1 man squad of them at base just for that

Yeah it's great! I contemplated doing that too, but it might not be economical to do so. If you're merging into jagers for example, then you're saving 6mp each time. So you'd need to reinforce 260/6 = 43 jagers before it became cost effective - and you'd have the opportunity cost of not getting utility out of the squad with fausting, nades, capping, and reinforcing on the frontline. But yeah it's an awesome ability. Most recently I found that a stosstruppen + gren can beat two squads of SSF commandos cover to cover even if the gren doesn't participate in the fight itself 😁

i dont know if they fix it, armor upgrade have a bug. If you buy first sherman and upgrade it will apply the armor upgrade. if you buy the second armor the armor upgrade doesnt apply it at all. i test about it. so for me the solution is i buy 3 sherman and then upgrade

You're right, there is a bug. I believe it's fine for normal shermans, but if you get the 76mm upgrade then new 76mm shermans won't have extra armour (only the ones you built before the 76mm upgrade). However, they will still have the damage resistance against handheld AT. I made a pinned comment about this with more detail

Still jaegers are broken, a blob o 8 (pretty common meta ) oneshot any vehicle every 5 seconds. Also jaegers are very hard to kill and are pretty good against infantry. It needs change.

I'm sure they'll do some balance changes to the jaegers, probably just reducing their damage to 100-120 to be more in line with other factions AT infantry. I don't think they need nerfing to the level that you say though. They're a 320mp squad with high reinforce cost (28mp per model) and a 90 muni upgrade. So getting a blob of that size online is very expensive. Also, in my testing cover to cover at mid range - double barred riflemen can beat jagers even if they have the scope upgrades. And that's neglecting pour it on them and sprint abilities from riflemen. As for tommies, I think their performance vs jagers is pretty good given their price and cheaper upgrades. If you go for brens and recce packages then they'll shred jagers, especially if they're blobbing in the open. I don't think jagers should be like bazooka squads since they're elite infantry and much more expensive, but I do think bringing down their AT to the level of other handheld AT would be good I also think going for stugs as Wehrmacht is a strong alternative to jager spam, people just haven't quite caught on to them yet. I don't think they need to rely exclusively on jagers. Having said that, the Wehrmacht early game could do with some love - often feels like you're struggling to survive until you get tier 2 or 3 out

If you're Wehrmacht then breakthrough > assgrens > pgrens and stugs can work quite well on CQC maps like Taranto Coastline, Twin Beaches, and Pachino Stalemate - less so on Road to Tunis. Use the sprint on the assgrens and the free long-sprint on vet 1 pgrens to rush the AT sections, or just try and flank and surround the blob while baiting with your stug to whittle it down. The stugs can bounce the AT rifles, and can bounce a lot at max range when they're trying to chase you down. If you grab MGs on the stugs that's quite good, and at vet 1 you can use the high explosive point blank shot on sections in the open or clumped on yellow cover and that does massive damage. The stugs also help you counter crusader AA and crusader rushes and can help you stall for a tiger. Could also jager blob and go mechanised for panthers, which will bounce even more shots and counter british armour effectively If you're DAK then getting to the anti-infantry stug seems very worthwhile, with marders to cover it from vehicles and the self-repair and survivability package (for repairs, health, and smoke). At vet 1 you can make it stationary but give it a range boost (can toggle on and off at any time). The range boost is huge, like AT gun range. So you can spot and screen with infantry while whittling down the blob from a distance. If you get the MG upgrade then, rather hilariously, the MG can fire at AT gun range too. It also bounces a lot of shots. I'm not as familiar with DAK so not sure what to suggest in the early game though.

@@johntu4137 You're welcome! Yeah the 8rad is really good but can't kite AT sections well because of their range. Microing the stugs takes some getting used to but it seems worth it. I still see tournament players build 1 8rad to help them survive until the stug

I did a bit of testing on this a few days ago actually. Schrecks will actually occasionally bounce off of shermans at max range even without the upgrade. The increased armour from the upgrade makes this more likely as you go from 195 front armour to 234. Edit - I dived into the modding tools and found that the schreck has 130 penetration at max range for a 67% pen chance. The upgrade makes that a 56% chance. So it's helpful when kiting infantry or just trying to reverse out while low on health. Worth noting though that if you get improvised armour and the 76mm upgrade then there's a bug where the armour buff doesn't apply to 76mm shermans you build after the upgrade. The damage reduction against schrecks still applies though

Edit: as of Patch 1.1.4 the improvised armour upgrade now applies to Easy 8s and Sherman 76mms, enjoy! Quick note, there is a bug related to improvised armour which I wasn't aware of before I made the video. Described below: If you buy only the improvised armour upgrade, then there's no problems and it works as intended. All tier 3 and 4 vehicles built before or after the upgrade was purchased will have the increased armour. If you buy improvised armour and the 76mm sherman upgrade in either order, then all regular shermans built before you get the 76mm upgrade will get upgraded armour, and all 76mm shermans built after the 76mm upgrade will not receive additional armour. However, all 76mm shermans will still take reduced damage from handheld AT when you have improvised armour in the way shown in the video. So there's still value in having it. All non-sherman vehicles seem to work consistently, including the bulldozer sherman. I'd probably advise grabbing improvised armour before getting shermans just for the survivability, and grabbing the 76mm upgrade once you have two shermans - or sooner if you really need the upgunning to deal with enemy armour (since the 76mm more or less doesn't improve anti-infantry performance anymore).

Damn, that was risky. If he went directly into your base after killing the first Sherman- he would have won the game then and there (but we all know MG spammers don't have the guts for risky plays, their peak is blobbing Schreks on tanks) Also Tiger missed twice on second Sherman in top-right corner, very lucky for you there. I believe it was set in stone by the end but he still could have killed Sherman and SU is he wasn't a buffon and ran for a Katty (but by that points he was probably boiling screaming "how is my strategy failing!?!? It worked every time before!!!" GG overall, thanks for the video

Glad you enjoyed! Yeah I think I lost the first Sherman a bit sloppily. But indeed, his playstyle was very defensive and static so he kinda let me build back into the game. I imagine by the end it was just tilt - he'd lost so much by that point, including base buildings, hahah

Sweet prediction. Very surprised you wiped the first squad. Motivated me to try brits again, i used to main them but switched to Soviets because of UKW's glaring weakness to light armor and snipers (instead i got the worst mainline infantry and MG in the game lmao)

Cheers dude! Yeah he retreated way too late with both squads I think. Glad to hear that! Hahah, I do find conscript starts quite difficult and the MG needs to be used more aggressively than the vickers/MG42/MG34. In terms of light vehicles I'm never afraid to go for an AEC as a counter on maps where AT guns are less effective and I try to plant some defensive mines to punish dives.

@@authoritarrr AEC is not very good in my opinion, it costs 75 fuel which significantly slows down the Cromwell/Centaur, and if you lose it you're so on the back it often becomes an uphill battle. It's also kinda meh against infantry. Luckily OST's/OKW's these days don't go for light vehicles for some reason, so 1 AT gun/AT section is enougn to push back a random 222 Your mine play is very consistent from what i've seen in your videos and won you games! I usually just get too caught up in all the micro to have time for that, but with more practice i need to focus more on that

That's fair, if I'm rushing tier 3 then I'll try and skip it, but brits have a pretty fast tech up anyway and higher skill players will often punish you if you only have sappers or an AT gun. E.g., I played several matches against OKW players who saw I went for an AT gun and would just build 2 luchs and rush it down. The AEC can also be useful in the late game as a flanking unit, with tread shot, or even with the command vehicle upgrade. That said I build it reactively since if the enemy is also rushing tier 3/4 then it's pointless

They are essentially just good for merging. I still think they need some late-game upgrade to make them a useful unit. For example an MG42 upgrade for phase C.

Actually the grenadier model gets the gun of the squad it's joining - e.g. an assault rifle in a pgren squad. That's part of why it's a good ability

Yeah, kinda like conscripts but more defensive: better merge, self-healing, no sprint. They don't scale as well though as no 7 man upgrade, though the veterancy upgrade helps

Not sure if that's too related to this engagement but that can work situationally. The main concern is vs DAK, USF, and Brits you need to make sure they don't have an early kradschutzen, jeep, or dingo armoured car or you'll have a really rough time. No one starts with snares so it's hard to protect a sniper that early. I normally build it a bit later, after the 3rd squad or when I get snares

He was doing better resource harassment. Each time he captured my cutoff I would lose out on my 10 fuel a minute from the point at the top. Also the crusader is cheap at 60 fuel and 300 something manpower vs the panzer 4 at 100 fuel and about 440mp
