An easier way to add delay is replacing the from block of one of the comparators to, well a block rather than redstone dust. This doubles the rate the signal holds its value and keeps it the same size

Still haven't tried this yet.. but why can't you just feed a hopper into the side of the crafter and then simply loop an average redstone clock through the top of the crafter?

Crafting items with multiple ingredients gets a little more complex.

another option, you can experiment with using a furnace instead of a second crafter, and use filler items that don't smelt, to save on resources (crafter uses 5 iron). fill up the crafter how you want it, then fill the furnace with items until the redstone turns off, then remove one item so it turns back on. hook up the redstone and you're good to go

You're absolutely correct. You can do it like that, or even with a composer. I used a second crafter for simplicity. I make these short for people learning how to use redstone. So I try and keep it easy to digest.

I have a skeleton spawner I tried to use a crafter to make bone meal and white dye to trade with my villagers but it keeps getting clogged with arrows bows and armors any idea how to fix this?

It's a design by wattles. I optimized the spawning area, and made a restone circuit on top to ensure they sleep every night. If there is a lot of interest in it I can do a video on it.
