Crazy to think how much this game changed hockey history in that era. It eventually created the greatest rivalry ever between 2 team's/ sports cities. Every other team changed the way they built their lineup and drafted thanks to Detroit.

If Ranford was playing in that series, Oilers would have won that series. Casey was a beast.

When the NHL expanded in 1967 to include the North Stars, the Met Centre was considered one of the best arenas in the NHL. Players thought the ice surface the best in the league, as were the arena lighting and expansive dressing rooms.

I saw the dead there in 2002, maybe they were called the other ones then still, but it was a cool venue to visit. Lol, you got to hand it to the dead heads, they got there early and tested the waters and even though they were police there, they kind of kept to themselves off to the side while the parking lot literally started oozing with mushrooms and ecstasy. It was pretty much what we like to call a good old free for all... I can't remember if they put the clamp down on it

Alexei Kovalev should have gotten way more credit for this win than Messier. Kovalev was a force all game, and scored the first goal, setup the next 2. Drew so many power plays, and without AK27 the Rangers would still be hearing the chants of 1940 to this day.

One of my favorite Brave's moments. I saw Hank Aaron and a plethora of great Braves play there. Also other MLB greats including the Big Red Machine and the Dodger's 4 game sweep of the Braves in 1982. I hated that stadium. It was a football stadium. Turner Field and Truist are for baseball.

This video proves the great fan support Atlanta had for the Thrashers. The naysayers who talk about attendance issues don't have anything to say when they see the truth of what hockey in Atlanta is like when you have a decent team.

I miss this team. Hopefully we will get them back within the next 3-5 years. NHL talks seems to indicate that Atlanta is coming back into the league. A new arena is proposed just north of Alpharetta and is supported by county officials.

Hard to convey the emotion behind what was on the line. This was a gruelling series. Trips, hooks, slashes, were the norm. Every time either team crossed the blue line you were on the edge of your seat. Best hockey I've ever witnessed.

This must be the best horrible game I’ve ever seen by a goalie. Not one of those goals was crap. And Roy made about 100 (slight exaggeration) great saves. The disrespect from the Habs fans for this eternally great goalie was disgusting. Glad Roy gave them the veritable finger. Quit and won in Colorado. Good for him. As awful as this was, in some twisted way, it might’ve been the best night of Roy’s career. It led him to his future Vezina and Cup in Colorado. This is beautiful night. Best NHL goalie ever making his great escape from Montreal. Good for him.

Everyone talks about McLean robbing Reichel but I still have no idea how Kirk kept the puck out on the Titov chance at 7:38. He was so deep in his net, Titov was cutting across there...couldn't tell what happened did McLean somehow kick it out? I think he gets some kind of shot off but I can't really tell...it's possible he flubbed the backhand
