omg I totally agree with you about Sam. I was so annoyed by her lack of humanity and the tumblr-messy-girl personality that I couldn’t really enjoy the other aspects of the book as much as I could have because I was rolling my eyes at every single one of her chapters. For example, the London ambiance, Luc’s growth throughout the story, or the things I identified with because I’m the same age as the characters-these were good aspects, but they couldn’t make up for my lack of empathy toward Sam (except for the Christmas situation, and still I thought we would see more about her feelings, but that didn’t happen anyway). It seemed like nothing in her life was a big deal to her. I just felt that everything about her was so contradictory that I couldn’t suspend my disbelief. For example, how can someone be a party harder like her and still be so awesome, brilliant, and consistent at her job? Anyway, I’ll probably give Jenny another shot with her next novel because I do see potential. Nice video!

Agree....I feel Luc has a better background description but Sam....feels like an empty character...

really interesting perspective, american psycho was my favorite BEE but this easily topped it :) even though i loved american psycho i still thought was a major drag at times with all the description of like, his sound system, but i felt like it built up my reading stamina and so the shards was SO easy comparatively. i like that it still had the strength of the mood and setting but less excessive description and was so much more of a mystery and thriller that kept the plot driving forward. way easier reading experience comparatively to me. i was born in 2000 and knew only maybe 10 of the songs beforehand, but i love synth and so listened to a lot of the songs in real time with the book which was extremely immersive and kept me in the world, i loved it. but yeah if u don't like that style of music it's not gonna work as well. with the dialogue, i guess it can sound the same, but they're all playing social games and fucking with each other so much, no one is a true friend they can be honest with, it's like survivor. good book for people who wonder what popular kids are up to.

Do you know if it’s possible to buy the kindle version of this book? I have tried to purchase it from where I am in the Middle East, and can’t find a kindle option

Hi! I've had a look online and I can see the Kindle version available on Amazon but this is the UK website - I can't access any other unfortunately. If you don't see it on your Amazon, it might be because they haven't yet established a publishing deal outside of Europe/USA. A VPN might help you access the UK website. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching!

@@SaltyCriticsCorner oh thanks so much! That’s so kind. Unfortunately, I’ve tried VPN but it hasn’t helped. I think I’ll wait until I’m back in the U.S. to purchase. Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for the encouragement (and for watching the other video as well)! Means so so much! Starting out and finding a good rhythm is the hardest part and I'm still learning with every video, but hopefully this is really only the beginning. There's so much planned to come out in the future 😁 stay tuned!

If you enjoyed the Vampire Chronicles, then this series is definitely worth a try, at least. It's the same universe, same style of writing and some vampire characters (like Lestat for example) make an appearance here as well.

As an American there are way too many drugs and holiday trips. Ive heard that is all normal for young people overseas, but in the u.s. it would be indicative of rich spoiled families. The loose sex lifestyle is pretty immoral to many in the u.s. also but depends on if in a religious area of the country

That's an interesting perspective, thank you! Definitely, our background contribute a lot to how we perceive characters in books, which is why we tried to focus on the novel structure itself, rather than on making moral judgements on the characters.
