Good stuff. Question here: While looking into your videos, your earliest ones are like 15 years old, then the newer ones are 3 years old, you have anything in-between? Cause there is no Mario Paint music, thanks.

Thanks ! After the great mario-paint-mania of 2008, I continued to work on original compositions (on mario paint and other software) but most of these projects remained private. Only one of these compositions (dating from 2009-2011) was published, but much later in 2020. It was mainly the new possibilities and ease of use offered by Super Mario Paint that made me want to get back to work.

Great work, certain sounds were much louder then the other, especially that one note, its overlapping quite a bit over certain notes. Very good.

Thanks ! What bothers me most is the sudden increase in volume between the introduction and the main theme. Curiously, this didn't happen on my original recording.

@@DominoAndReglisse Excellent work, you kept it true to the original, that is very very important, cause I know the music by heart. How much experience did you gather from Mario Paint before doing this for 30 hrs? I beat you had years of experience before hand?

Thanks for your appreciation ! In fact, this track was one of the three I dreamed of transcribing when I started with mariopaint in 2008. However, after several unsuccessful attempts ( -> I couldn't reproduce the drum section properly) this project stalled. It was only years later, when I discovered the new version of mario paint (ie: super mariopaint) that I decided to get back to work on it. With this new attempt, I finally understood what was wrong with my previous versions of the percussions. Once this problem was solved, I had no particular difficulty with the melodic part. It's also worth noting that Super Mario Paint removed most of the limitations we had at the time and added several new instruments very useful for this transcription.

Yeah, there are so many good tracks in FF8. I also find this one particularly threatening. Always loved the transition between the bare, almost unreal, introduction and the first theme, so solemn and severe.

Hey is there any way you'd be able to give me any tips for doing this kind of thing? I LOVE your work and share your appreciation for good music but am completely ignorant in music theory and/or traditional music knowledge. Also, do you take custom requests? Thanks so much for these great works!
@DominoAndReglisse8 ай бұрын
Hi Snoxeri, You should check the user manual for Super Mario Paint (aka: Giant Mario Paint) : docs.google.com/document/d/1zLSkC-clCSxvVUnbYQAxImmJA-QSwSSyzuC62enLiLc/edit#heading=h.7yqw99x098qj This doc provide the official download link of the program, with installation instructions. It also teach you how the composition works in SMP. Once you've got the hang of it, don't hesitate to come back here for more specific musical advice. Have fun.
@DominoAndReglisse8 ай бұрын
Also, with a good musical understanding and a decent ear, music theory knowledge is not required to work on SMP : I'm barely able to name the notes I place on the score, and this doesn't prevent me for tackling rather complicated pieces. Finally, I don't take custom requests but I'm always interested in discovering new tracks. Don't hesitate to share your good finds here !

@DominoAndReglisse Жыл бұрын
Merci beaucoup !

Thank you very much for your comment. This sequence of the game is really intense and memorable. For me, the best part is the transition to the fight against Dracula: the music that stops, the scene with the candlesticks, the stairs to the last tower under the moonlight... it was just perfect! And I'm sure you know what I mean :)
