+JMJ Aside from the ugly church, inane Novus Ordo or protestant ordo, utterly banal music, and altar girls, the carnival swinging of the thurifer is just another reason the pews are empty on Easter morning. Sad.

It is not acceptable and out of tradition and is considered heresy to have a woman alter serve in the sacred and holy Roman Catholic mass. It is for altar, boys and men only. Women are not equal and helping to serve in a math. Jesus Christ disciples were all men, boys, a steppingstone for altar serving into the priesthood which women are forbidden to and not allowed to join. Women have other ways and means of presenting themselves and helping within the church and through holiness, however, alter serving traditionally, and as our culture does not allow women the same place as a man during the mass. If this is offensive to the feminist and perhaps maybe the Catholic tradition and religion is not for you I would consider looking into a protestant religion and going there instead.

It's just an option for experienced Thurifers during services in the Episcopal Church. Usually reserved for special services, such as Christmas and Easter.
