The most outstanding comedic talent Australia has ever produced and one of our best non-fiction writers as well

Thanks for this . Had the pleasure, many years ago, of working with Doug Reece in Australian television. Doug's band, the Echoes, backed Dusty in some London concerts (in fact, he can been seen on stage with her in the early part of this documentary). And on a final note of trivia.... for car buffs .... interesting to see Burt Bacharach getting around London in a RHD '63 Galaxie.... would have been built for export at Ford's plant in Oakville, Ontario

I remember, when I was a kid, our family tuning in regularly to Operation Entertainment preceded/followed by Love American Style (talk about an earworm theme song). That was in Canada where the Vietnam war also filled our newscasts (though we often tuned in to Cronkite).

Did you notice Dusty singing Mary Wells 1st hit “You Lost the Sweetest Boy”….by this time Mary Wells had left Motown for greener pastures. Motown told all the record distributors that if they handled Mary’s records from her new company then they would never distribute any of their records…..it worked and doomed her career…..it’s just business

Wow! The way Dusty makes this her own. No wonder she became much more. If only society ignored her differences, thew world would be a much kinder place. Goddamn homophobia and hatred. It ruins most precious things.

Oh my, still to this Christmas eve in 2024. Here across the pond near Wales in England UK. When Picture me gone or your gonna make me love comes on. Vinyl record or KZbin ect. The night is all but over, because the others struggle to get near to the joy these songs deliver. So we hear Dusty was also a terrific lady. Merry Christmas to you, hope you are aware.

Adele speaks in such a base level way, esp when compared to the eloquence of the girl singers from the 1960’s. I guess you just can’t teach class, you’ve either got it or you haven’t.
