I am wondering whether the note repetition is a small hint at Bach's D major fugue from book 2 (Fugue 5, BWV 874). Since also, D major in baroque pitch would become what we hear as D-flat major, so that would be a perfect reference. Of course the fugue is entirely different and beautiful.

Hoffstetter (Mozart’s publisher and Masonic Brother in Vienna c. 1784-1790) wanted M. ‘to compose three light & easy Klavier quartets - but in the end (after paying out 25-ducats in advance…) Hoffstetter refused to print the plates for K. 478 - as ‘bring too difficult for amateurs and far too learned’ despite M. having to re-compose the 3rd movement from scratch into the lighter key of G-major - but later Artaria agreed to publish this and the other completed Klavier quartet K. 493 in E-flat in 1787 - so they finally got ‘their well-deserved day in Court’ - if only M. was allowed to have complete freedom his ‘romantic tendencies’ after Sept 1784 when he experienced a near-death experience following a severe streptococcal infection leading to partial renal failure at which time he was in and out of coma (with severe edema in hands, legs & feet) between 30 August - 3 Sept 1784… It is not by chance that M. began his Verzeichnuess (‘Catalogue of All My Works’ in early October 1784, but his initial entries beginning with K. 452 were backdated to 11 Feb 1784) … but rent & Baden spas were very expensive for him… Interestingly M. began several compositions in minor keys such as K. 457 marking yet another change in his ‘stile’ - many of these minor keyed compositions were left incomplete - Ah well…

Yes!!! I love this recording so much. I think there are several places where the score is missing notes and whole chords. Perhaps the software transcription has failed to pick up some parts due to the low audio quality?

Oh it was gorgeousness and gorgeosity made flesh. The trombones crunched redgold under my bed, and behind my gulliver the trumpets three-wise silverflamed, and there by the door the timps rolling through my guts and out again crunched like candy thunder. Oh, it was wonder of wonders. And then, a bird of like rarest spun heavenmetal, or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now, came the violin solo above all the other strings, and those strings were like a cage of silk round my bed. Then flute and oboe bored, like worms of like platinum, into the thick thick toffee gold and silver. I was in such bliss, my brothers.
