Hi. Nice film and well explained. I’ve been fly fishing for many years and recently bought a new fly rod. I used to overline my old fly rods (9’ #7 single handers) with one line weight for wf lines to get the proper feel. 18 grams for the single handed shooting heads. Worked like a charm. However, regarding the new fly rod (Greys GR80 9’6 #7 and GR80 Salt 9’ #7) I’m not so sure that overlining is a good idea. I’ve heard comments that 18 grams shooting head is a couple of grams too light for a #7 “to let the rod do the work…”. Any tips on how to choose the right line weight…? I like to “feel the line” to a certain degree
@TaylorMadeFlyFish4 сағат бұрын
@@KristianBjering thanks for the comment! It all really depends on the rod action and the taper of the line. The GR80 rods are more of a medium to fast action, if the line is a Spey taper. Match the like weight to the rod weight! Hope this helps. Thanks!

Hi Jack, what head lengths are you going to be producing? I currently use OPST's Commando smooth lines on some of my shorter 10'-12'ft rods when fishing smaller spate rivers, i would be interested to have a look at your lines.

@@ukgunworks hi! Head lengths will range from 16-22ft on single hand. 23-26 for switch rods and 24/28 for the big double hand setup. These will cover all weights. Thanks!

Biggest issue for me is most running lines are just too supple and dont have enough rigidity if that makes sense? If you're handling a lot of loops of running line in decent flowing water there is a real tendency for twists in the flowing loops and the consequent tangles on the way out. Best running line ive found whether integrated or separate is Gaelforce, in running water its got to be Stoft mono in 50lb but its fails badly in back eddies or slow flows. Be interested in trying your lines though. Thanks for the video...

Great product! Here, in North America many of us fish 150feet running line, 20 foot skagit head and 10 foot sink tip for a 7/8 weight 500+ grain. If you can make a fully integrated line to those specs!!! You have a whole new market.

@TaylorMadeFlyFish good question. Business Savy. It depends on access to big water. But I'd say for skagit: T-7 7ips is 1st popular T-10 8ips, 2nd T-14 9ips 3rd T-18 10ips 4th. But I'd be looking to carry all four.

@TaylorMadeFlyFish4 күн бұрын
@@stiofain4693 thanks! I’m a strong believe that if you turn the fly over correctly and present well on each cast so it’s fishing the second it lands. You’ll catch more fish! Should be a couple of weeks ish for the rods. It a waiting game at the moment. Tight lines Jack
@JohnMallin4 күн бұрын
Hi Jack great looking line with all these attributes, but myself being primarily a Salmon angler, if I used this line since there is no stretch (I usually strike off the reel with the present lines I use) I’d need to have a yard or so of a loop trapped between the butt section & my trigger finger to allow the fish to take & turn otherwise from my own experience you wouldn’t be able to get a good hook set, but I’m very interested to see your range of lines when you have them available…tight lines…..
@TaylorMadeFlyFish4 күн бұрын
@@JohnMallin hi! I mostly strike off the reel or while stripping. I personally think it’s a common misconception that you need to allow the fish to take and turn the fly! Salmon are hooked before you feel anything, I’ve lost less with zero stretch lines! Tight lines Jack
