I once had dinner with the Director of Arts in the Shetland Council. He said that every kid is assessed for musical ability, and offered a free fiddle with free lessons. She's right - there are literally hundreds of fine fiddlers on that small and remote island - the quality of music there is insane.

We bought the baratone model a month ago and absoutely love it. Arrived well packaged and was set up perfectly right out of box. We love the way it plays, it has a clear bright tone which sounds more like an instrument costing far more. The fit and finish is perfect especially the 3d roseette. If you are looking for a real eyecatcher, unlike anything else get one of these. You wont regret it.

I’m fascinated to see the making of a whistle by Mr Sweet. My high D whistle I got from him is made from the same material- black plastic. Exactly the same shape as the low D made in cherry wood.

@@Folkfriends of course, the way you played that instrument was so calming. I wasn't expecting a song. Im making a baritone and it was nice to see the scale length really increased the volume of the natural harmonics. What you played helped demonstrate the capacity of the baritone.
