So, my theory is Sailor Moon is a multiverse, and each adaptation is a different universe. That includes the different English dubs. In one universe, the "DiC universe" if you will, Uranus and Neptune really *are* cousins; very, very close cousins.

Kids in US would not have been too confused of romance between two women...but they were confused indeed of all the romantic tension between these "cousins"

If they said they met as kids did they simply not show the episode where they met each other?

I don’t care what anyone says about the old dub. It was one of the first things that made me discover I was gay. Yeah there was censorship like “cousins”, but it still raised conversation and helped us get to where we are today where shows are more accepting. We don’t live in an ideal world. We have to start from somewhere and I’m glad they let this show air in the 90s.

Me and my sister were so naive as a kids , we never suspected anything about this “cousins" , never even focus into that it was more about the comedy and action

I have a feeling that the dub-writers actually didn't want to censor their relationship. They keep mentioning that their cousins so often that it just seems suspicious, like they're definetly hiding something, and it seems that a lot of kids figured that out.
