In the U.S. most of the negativity about all of Africa comes from political conservatives. There are a lot of Americans, Black and White who travel, and have real perspectives, good and bad. Some political conservatives will travel to Africa for safaris, big game hunting, etc,and make no mention of modern, urbanized Africa when they get back.

What plans are in place to alleviate the problems of the first part of the video Or is it ok for the impoverished side to remain as is as long as there is an affluent side to compare with other developed countries?

Honestly, this was the reaction I got from classmates when I told them I was visiting Nigeria(birth place of my dad). The school made did their best to convince me otherwise, and made sure I took all the 'necessary' vaccines and medicines. The trip turned out quite well, had no idea Nigeria was that developed! I really think Africa should be potrayed more positively by western media.
