I once tried to eat a squirrel, but his tiny legs were much too fast. It's not very relevant though....

That's a lie. Medias of usa control presidency . Ive watched media's over history control history . From rigging elections to killing presidents to being presidents . Media's hypocracy democracy. Media's control the illusion of democracy with media's troupes. There has never been a fair election. Good presidents die. Bad presidents live. Even when bad loses, the still win. If not shoot you , then they frame you ... Media's words ..

Violence is the other interesting absence from the film, maybe enforces that slightly old-fashioned quality it has. I've only seen the film once (actually might have been the last IMAX film I saw), but I remember the sound as much as the look of the film, particularly the loudness of gunfire. Interested to hear what you guys made of Tenet, which I thought felt convoluted in a way that Nolan's other films sometimes have an undeserved reputation for. Have only seen it the once though. Feels like it's coincidenced with Nolan becoming slighlty unfashionable too - online at least. Maybe something to do with being a filmmaker who straddles the line between accessibility and inventiveness in a word that increasingly embraces extremes or maybe just the rise of similar filmmakers like Villeneuve?

Hi Michael - sorry for not replying *checks...* 7 months earlier. Thanks for your comment and your insight in to the film. I agree with you about Tenet; in fact Nick and I recorded our review but the audio was terrible so we didn't upload it. In short, my take is similar to yours. It was the first Nolan film were all of the criticisms people level at his work (criticisms I do not generally agree with) were present. I found the film oppressive and bleak to the point it was just a negative experience watching it. It will be interesting to see what happens with Nolan's Oppenheimer - will the audience continue to move away from him, or was Tenet the aberration? We have to take time of release in to account as well, it was right in the middle of Covid. Your point re: Villeneuve is food for thought - Nolan has been alone in the space he created for himself but now he has competition - competition that maybe highlights how cold and unemotional his work can be.
