How do you remove the oil pump I have a 07 kawasaki ninja zx6r it's has a cracked oil pump cover can you show me the correct way to replace it? I believe it is the reason I can't get the oil light to go off

Thank you for your comment. Yeah the "Southern Ontario Association of Racing" it's a club racing group and they do six or seven rounds at Grand Bend Motorplex each year. It's a lot of fun. This video was from a 125cc racing training class

Yeah, I finished it and run it at track days now. If you have any questions about the build I can try to answer. My camera died so I couldn't finish the video series. I had a shop install the valve guide but was able to do the rest myself.

I went from thinking I just needed to remove excess oil that was trapped in one of the valve shafts, to checking valve clearance, to realizing there was a serious problem that being the exhaust camshaft being absolutely shredded and had become so tight that it scoured the bottom of the cylinder head. I feel as if a person doesn't respect a bike's mandatory scheduled maintenance which for this bike finally happened at 36k miles by me. I'm not going to lie, I feel like if a person doesn't respect these machines by staying true to scheduled maintenanc, they shouldn't be riding at all. Go get a mini bike. The damage I found is beyond ridiculous but I really truly appreciate these videos because for some reason it gives me confidence and I know the bike will be fine but I am too pissed off to have fun with this. Now I have to do the same thing with my GSXR because I know this work hasn't been done either so both bikes get the love. Thanks Chris!

I have a 2013 zx6 with a bent valve and a dead cyclynder #4. Would it be best to buy a complete head a replace it? Would doing that fix my issue?
@ESPPsycho
@ESPPsycho 5 жыл бұрын
It'll be cheaper and faster to get a used cylinder head and replace it. Problem is if you're that far torn down it's not that much more work or diy cost to refresh the head. It's really up to what you feel most comfortable with. I'm guessing the bent valve is cause of dead cylinder. Can't say for sure if it'll fix your issue. You need to figure out if any side effect from broken valve: - Are there any marks on the piston? - Is there any debris in the cylinder? - When you pull the head off, does your fingernail catch anywhere on the cylinder wall? - With head off, is the valve guide chipped? - Pull the valve cover off, do you see any debris? - With valve cover off, compare broken valve assembly with parts diagram (bikebandit.com->OEM Parts->your bike->Engine->Valves), is anything missing or broken? If any of those questions are yes (like me), you have a bigger problem. Good luck

It would work really well if you had a sleeve that could slide and be locked on the horizontal section of the base? And on that sleeve, welded a telescopic vertical support. You know, instead of stacking pieces of wood.

Do you absolutely have to remove the engine from the frame to perform all the work you did? I've got red kote in my 07 zx6r's combustion chamber and have to clean it all out.

Why not just loosen the cylinder head bolts whilst the engine is in the frame, and tighten the same way on re-assembly. No stand needed.
@ESPPsycho
@ESPPsycho 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, lesson learned on that. Without a stand, it would be better to crack things loose when it's still in the frame. I think the stand is the best solution though, that way you can go by the book on re-assembly and not accidentally miss something.

Do you use sealant when you put the gasket back on?
@ESPPsycho
@ESPPsycho 9 жыл бұрын
+RevVin yup! But only at the half circles. Not the whole thing. In that spot you can use RTV (the permatex ultra black, or blue)

Hey it's kind of off topic, but when I'm looking in the cylinders just passed the throttle bodies it's closed off, how can I open that up so I can see the valves?
@ESPPsycho
@ESPPsycho 9 жыл бұрын
+RevVin You have to pull the throttle bodies off. There is probably a screw clamping the throttle body to each cylinder. Pull that thing off and you can see the valves. Good luck-

@ESPPsycho

+Alexandro Guevara I used Partzilla, they are the cheapest (real cheap) but slow shipping. Usually around 2 weeks. If I needed something fast I went to local dealership and had them order, but it costs much more.
