Just wondering if you had any idea what the shear bar is supposed look like when new I can’t find a picture of one that matches mine online it’s got the two hills on it but the only ones I can find are mostly flat any information would greatly appreciated
@travisthetreeman6 күн бұрын
Here's a link to a site that carried "anvils" (shear bars) for most chippers. Your dealer should be able to print you an image of yours if you take the last 5 of your serial number. Most of them are flat with a 30 degree angle on all 4 sides like the one on this site. Hope that helps: www.baileysonline.com/knife-source-17-1-4-x-3-1-2-x-1-bed-knife-anvil-for-vermeer-replaces-153345001.html

I have this same machine when the feet hit the ground they just stop and will not push up the lift to level? Like it will not level at all.
@travisthetreeman21 күн бұрын
Its a common fault on these machines. Usually if you extend one foot a little and then go back to auto level it will engage. Or turn the key off and on.

It's from towing it and going fast over bumps in the road. Watch your review mirror. The stress from leveling it is so much less than watching the thing try to pop off the ball and bang all around.

Don't think its from putting down the rear legs down first...Watch in your review mirror when you are towing and go over a bump or dip in the road...A lot more forces from towing than leveling.

Don't change the bolts each time, its a total scam from Vermeer, i have a chipper too .then onlt time tou reallt need to changd the bolts is when they start to stretch, usually about 6 uses. New bolts every time is a waste of money.
@travisthetreeman3 ай бұрын
Totally understand, but we try to stay with manufacturer recommendations for video purposes. Alot of guys push it too far and regret it with they snap a bolt. $40 buys a lot of peace of mind.

how well does the drive system work? will it drive up an incline or only flat ground?
@travisthetreeman3 ай бұрын
Smooth ground no problem up to 5% incline. Soft yards can be an issue. If we have a long haul, hills, pot holes or wet conditions we just pull it with our loader. Excessive driving will drain a 12 hour battery in 4. All that said it is great from tree to tree on a hard surface for residential work. Ill never own another without it!

Why not trim some of the bulky branch's off since you got he lift there anyway?
@travisthetreeman6 ай бұрын
May be hard to tell from the video but that tree was very unstable. I didn't want to be near it any longer than I had to. The added benefit to leaving the branches on is if the tree hit or brush up against anything those branches cause less damage than logs do. Plus we were going to rig the remainder down this way anyhow. Thanks for watching.

Would you go gas or diesel if you did it again? In my state you don't have to register/plate a chipper if it's under 10,000 pounds and you aren't storing/hauling anything on it.
@travisthetreeman7 ай бұрын
I've run both and prefer the gas. Not much power difference in my opinion between the two. Fuel economy is the only downside on the smaller chippers, but the cost of repairs is higher on diesel...plus the initial purchase price. We run a BC1500 gas currently and love it. 45 gallon fuel tank solved our fuel issue...plus it eats fast so we run it less.

Have any of you ever had to replace the BLOCK with the threaded holes in it? Our knives just came loose and ripped all of the bolts out of the holes leaving major damage in the holes. Vermeer tells me that the mounting blocks can be replaced.

Thats correct but its expensive. Alot of times you have to replace the drum. Hope it works out for you.
