This is extremely useful for all internal auditors, thank you for sharing. On the question of timely completion of audit project by Lerato, my view is that a project that takes more than 3 months to start and complete adds little value to stakeholders. A well planned and coordinated audit can be completed while soonest. Audit team needs to spend time understanding the value adding aspect of each project; and cut it into small meaningful chunks. Secondly, agility of internal audit does not mean compromising audits already on the plan. When audit has been started, it does not mean it to be abandoned to accommodate new audits. Again, understanding the value add of each audit is important. Only abandon an audit when, at planning stage, it is clear that doing it won’t add any value. Auditors at all levels should future focused when providing assurance on risk. Thank you 🙏🏾

Hi there, board exams going Internal Audit is CIA?

I'm sure the same arrangement is made for internal auditors to write CA(SA). Otherwise, this process is merely to undermine our profession. Also, having CIA without credible internal auditing experience is as good as nothing 🤷‍♂️

Currently in my second of Bcompt Internal Auditing. I was not sure what Internal Auditing is and the role of Internal Auditors until I started reading more. What was clear and more attractive to me was the role of external auditors.

Why are they showing External Auditors, at the background, whilst talking Internal Audit? 🙈🙈🙈

It is well and good talking about the skills set required to execute the duties of an internal auditor but if the internal audit function fails to be predictive and also devise systems and controls that will pre empt the crystallization of some of the risks associated with corruption, for instance, the virtues of internal audit will for ever remain a pipe dream. It is also important to empower and support the internal audit function sufficiently to deal with corruption when it rears its head rather than to defend the culprits, which in practice tends to be the case.

Full Population audit testing through automated assurance... wow... few are thinking this way
