I toured some Richmond American duplexes yesterday and they seemed quite nice to me. I even walked through a couple still being built and I didn't see any issues. I design trusses for a living so I was looking at the trusses and framing mostly. I'm about to buy a duplex from them in Vegas. Hopefully they have improved things since then... I think they are held to higher standards these days at least.

I bought a Richmond American home in Washington state, the house is less then a year old and my drive way is falling apart and is cracked “ most likely from to much water added to the concrete “ furthermore, my front yard isn’t graded properly. Water either pools in the center of my yard or comes back towards the foundation which will ultimately compromise its structural integrity over time. My front porch is cracked. They’ve yet to stain our fences. Many of my neighbors are also experiencing issues such as floor boards coming apart. Carpet that wasn’t installed correctly. And when we first moved in there were men working on these house sometimes until midnight just so Richmond could get them sold off quicker. This builder pays people in piece work. The faster they get done the quicker they’re paid and move onto the next part. So there is no integrity with doing a proper job.

No big surprise here. I unfortunately bought one of these houses and I have sooooooooooooooooooo many problems and can not get anyone to even respond. I was forced to close and at my closing my closing fee went up by almost $1000 because they said the price of my house just went up. I closed almost two months ago and no one can explain to me still why my few went up. Also after just 18 days in this house my shower nozzle shot off the wall and flooded my bathroom with 2000 gallons of water. So now 31 days later I still have no flooring and can not use that bathroom and there are 5 of us in this house. I've called, emailed, and went to the model home and still can not get anyone to do anything. These are just two out of about 100 issues we have. Plan and simple Richmond only wants your money and clearly hates thier customers.

I'm moving outta My dr Horton home in Illinois. I'm moving with lennar . Dr Horton does crappy quality work. Leaking windows 🪟 they hire crappy workers NEVER BUY from Dr Horton. Go with Lennar Homes. DR HORTON ONLY HAVE 1 YEAR WARRANTY. LENNAR HAS 10 YEAR BUMPER TO BUMPER BASICALLY. NEVER BUY WITH DR HORTON!!!!!!!!! IM ALSO HAVING SQUEAKY FLOORS WIH ONLY 2 YEARS BUILT. I GET THEIRS SETTLING IN HOUSE BUT IT SHOULDN'T BE THIS BAD....

We signed with them and it's crazy how our foundation is looking. Our pipes are so close to the edge of the foundation that the concrete on the side of the pipes is broken. We want to pull out but don't want to lose our money. We may have to just chalk it up and take the loss.

While I feel for these people, there are two sides to every story. We've had a great experience with Richmond American. You can't judge an entire company that has built over 100,000 homes based on a few people in one project. There is probably a bad contractor or two at any company. Any buyer, with ANY company, should hire your own home inspector that works for you. My home inspector pointed out a few things that Richmond happily fixed. My general contractor went the extra mile and even added extra slats in my walls for me to hang my TVs on before the drywall went up. He didn't have to do that, but Gary did it because he cared. He said to me, "I'd rather do it right than rush it," and he has stayed true to his word. Here in Maryland, I would use Richmond American again in a heartbeat. Bottom line, do your own research, talk to the sales reps, get a real estate agent who is knowledgable, and hire a home inspector and that's regardless of any company you use.

It is not another side, just that too many buyers have experienced too many problems. Did Ford correct the Pinto design before being sued for exploding gas tanks and several deaths? Very simply, every worker but God needs to be supervised, every supervisor needs to be supervised.

NEVER buy a new home...Build your own or buy one that has been around for a while...I built homes for years and switched to remodeling in the 90's to repair or improve the messes left on new built properties...The primary reason is using the cheapest subcontractors, poor project management and a general malaise in the industry...

I bought I a home with Richmond builders in Dixon CA!! Worst Experience Ever!!! They are selling homes faster than they can build them!! So now they are in Rush Mode, leaving behind low quality build!!! Don't get drawn in by the Models homes!!!

@@tcorp5089 we were suppose to have our home completed beginning of summer 2021. We live close by so we noticed they barely had any work done along the process while telling us home is a month away from completion. Cat and mouse game went for over 4 months. I understand there may logistic issues, but flat out lying to us is no way to do business. We backed out and luckily our earnest money was returned. Til now that home is not finished SMH. We also spoke to our furniture guy and he told me his cousins new Richmond home in Vacaville had major leaks in their office area during the last rain storm. They are selling homes faster than they can finish them. They hire third party workers so who knows how your home will turn out. Our sales rep slipped said there was a lot of mistakes done to our home, thats another headache we wanted to steer away from. You have to realize California has been hit with back to back to back wildfires, 10k homes and commercial structures gone. Best/good Contractors go to top dollar builds. Dixon gets subpar contractors & newbs in my opinion. Dont be hypnotized by their models…

I don't understand where the city inspectors are in these matters. You rely on their independence and experience to root out the problems with the builder at each step or the construction stops. Are the inspectors being paid off by these national builders? I have built my own single-family home on four different occasions in four different counties. The building inspectors hounded me to death on the most picky little details. Most I agreed with and had the contractor fix it before I paid him. I was thankful to the inspector for pointing out the flaws. There's something fishy here.

That warranty came with my new Richmond house. Building inspector found lots of problems which were all fixed, some within a 30 day period by a RA quality man.
