Great ideas and projects, you won’t be bored this autumn. I look forward to bigger pieces, maybe unusual curtains, for dungarees or boiler suits..they use so much fabric. In Somerset, market stalls with fabric on rolls is a rare thing! Thank you

Does all linen stretch with wear and if so how do you judge your sizing to cater for it please?
@bobbinsandbuttons2 ай бұрын
Good question. Linen does have a natural amount of give. I've found the regular one that I stock and lighter weights not to have enough movement to cause any issues, especially for the Fern culottes. I wouldn't make this combo in anything heavier, so I work on the size that my measurements dictate. I initially made a toile in calico for the top and haven't changed anything.

Has anyone figured out the problem with the mismatching leg length at the inside crotch seam step, "step 3" on the website? There were a lot of comments on the blog but no resolution that I can find. Not sure how to proceed... in this video it seems she doesn't run into the problem because when she holds up the pinned crotch it all seems aligned.. but in my shorts the back side leg is about 1.5 inches longer than the front just at the inside..
@bobbinsandbuttons4 ай бұрын
Hi, someone sent me a picture the other day, and maybe this is the same issue. She had cut the wrong length line. They do sort of all merge together. I am going to see if I can change it to make it clearer. The best way to check is to count back from the outer line. If you are using the third line in, for example, count the third line in for the length on the back piece, too. There are answers to all queries on the blog post. Most were about not finding the download, which we have sorted out.I hope this helps.

Hello. Is there a reason for not to overlock the edges? I hate it when the inside of my pockets fray and loose threads come out
@bobbinsandbuttons5 ай бұрын
That's a good question, I generally never do as sometimes it creates bulk along the seam edge but if the fabric frays a lot then it would definitely be a good idea.

Thank you for this tutorial, especially the finishing and starting new threads, that makes such a difference to a project but very few people seem to show how to do it. From the US - it took awhile to de-confuse my brain. In the US, calico is a small print, not a solid fabric. I kept looking for the printed fabric! :)
