4:35 Scarecrone can be used to draw a card and put itself back on the battlefield if the abilities are done in correct order. Just have to hold priority :)

Hey I've only glanced at your cube, but why no Network Terminal or Lorien Revealed etc? Too powerful?

Good question! I actually have a cycle of landcycling cards in the cube, and they are all 2 mana. Having a one mana cycling card might shift the power in favor of that card. I also have a cycling archetype primarily in red and I would not want drafters picking Lorien purely to play it as a cycler in a mono-red deck, for example. Network Terminal is solid but I kinda stopped putting Manalith variants in the cube. I might change my mind. I ran Letter of Acceptance when it came out.

@MasonzeroMTG But Lorien is islandcycling only so I'm not sure how mono red would use it as you don't have the typed duals in your Mana bases? Fair enough on Network Terminal, I just saw the Tomb that does the same sort of effect without Mana ramp and thought Network was just better.

@MasonzeroMTG Also Fall from Favor is now banned in Pauper, does this Cube follow the constructed Banlist or is Pauper as a way to say any cards printed at common?

It's less about the cycling doing anything and more about just getting the cycling trigger. Although in this cube there is nothing too crazy so it's probably not a big deal. I would maybe like to replace the New Capenna dual lands with the Dominaria United duals that have the land types, so if I do that I will probably reevaluate my landcyclers and likely use Lorien since it's such a good card. As for Fall From Favor, yeah I just go by cards that have been printed at common. Limited and constructed are so different that being banned doesn't really matter for cube, even though that particular card is certainly powerful.

I play an Eight-and-a-Half-Tails deck that tries to include as many of these kinds of old weird effects as possible, yet somehow it actually kinda works. Shoutouts to Wall of Glare, Portcullis, Peace Talks, Peacekeeper, Bubble Matrix and the win con of Near-Death Experience + Ethereal Champion

Love little videos like this to help expose folks to just random cards that would get hidden in a chaff bin otherwise. Keldon Twilight is the real winner for me today. Been building a "Negan, Cold Blooded" Commander Deck, and have seen it get some opponents down to 0 creatures on board. This would be a great way to prevent them from just dropping one creature alone as blocker on their following turn. It couldn't attack because of summoning sickness? Tough luck. You lose it. And I'll get a treasure for it!

Psychic Trance is incredibly funny to me as a Yu-Gi-Oh player. Turns all of your monsters into omni-negates for a turn and somehow it's just mid.

I play Magus of the Unseen all the time. My favorite story was taking control of someone's Sword of the Animist so if they attacked I would get to ramp the land instead of them.

After more than 10 years of on and off interest in Magic and only buying the occasional precon so that I can dip my toes in the game just a bit (not commander mind you...I never understood the appeal and I'm honestly starting to hate the idea of commander more and more as time passes) I finally got really sucked into a particular set and actually engaged with the game on a whole new level because of Neon Dynasty. Such a flavourful and mechanically interesting set. Also so accessible to new(ish) players and just absolutely beautiful to look at. The marriage of spirituality, traditional fantasy and sci-fi also combines the best of the multiversal elements of Magic in my oppinion... 10/10 set...

Your land that entered tapped should have untapped, as you never tapped it for mana it wouldn’t be affected by Vorinclex.

These are some neat mechanics. Cool video. The idea of the Inspire + Convoke seems like a fantastic draft archetype for a cube (or masters set). Not to "um acktually" you, but it is worth saying that the Storm Scale is specifically for a Standard-legal set. So sets like Modern Horizon are much more likely to include cards with a higher storm scale, as we've seen. (As well as the Doctor Who/LotR decks you mention later in the video.)

Thanks for the comment! You're totally right about the storm scale, and that's on me for not mentioning that, and for not specifying that I was talking about standard sets for these mechanics. Maybe it's wrong to reference their usage in non-standard sets, but I do see it as a sign that WOTC at least has the keyword in mind. This is a good clarification, thank you!

@@MasonzeroMTG I don't think that's an unreasonable take at all, higher storm scale is almost inevitably going to make it harder to return. But harder does not mean impossible. One of the Modern Horizons had a card with Dredge IIRC? Anyway, I'd be totally up for this cube that has a bunch of Convoke/Conspire so you tap your creatures to cast spells and then have Inspired triggers. Plus if you're casting your spells cheaper with Convoke that means you can now cast a second spell with Surge... 🤔

Im steering away from disguise as i feel the face down mechanic adds too much fuss and doesnt surprise anyone without a dedicated group of them, and there arent many great ones that make the cut.

@@colinderue8095 it can be tricky but I feel if you have a good setup,like the lizard that pings you every time a face down card flips, they can be game changers. Especially with ward they have to spend resources

The only Disguise card that feels really good is the red one that can draw you three cards, as it's good in a spell deck and ideally you can flip it the turn you play it. Other ones are more niche, but you're right, unless you play a lot of them, the sense of surprise just isn't there. It has to really be worth it for other reasons.

Troll of Khazad-dum is great in cubes that support reanimator since it puts itself into the graveyard, gets you a land and is difficult to block. Arwen, Mortal Queen and Samwise Gamgee have given g/w a much needed boost in my cube. My cube is 720 cards though, so my multicolor selection is 10 cards per color pair. That being said, Faramir, Prince of Ithilien is really good as well. And finally, Elven Farsight often gets the draw which makes it better than most blue cantrips a lot of the time.

Still don't think it's good enough, but with Treacherous Greed, it just says a creature that dealt damage. It doesn't have to be to a player or combat damage. So basically, sacrifice a creature that survived combat (attacking or blocking) or dealt noncombat danage to anything.

Yeah, good point. Probably 75% of the time it'd be used on an attacker that gets through but it could be usable with a good blocker or a pinger (not that you'd want to sac those either haha)
