Why do you even care about the octane rating. Octane has nothing to do with energy density. It is the resistance to detonation. there is literally nothing getting diluted for an octane number. if you're getting piston slap going uphill in a modern vehicle, the fuel is not the issue, but you should have a check for mechanical problems

Sorry to burst your bubble but we have 95 octane in America, in fact we even have 116 octane. The difference is our cars are built to run on 87 octane whereas European cars are built to run on 95 RON which is the equivalent of 91 octane in the US. That's why any newer European car in the US has a minimum of 91 octane and American cars have a minimum of 87. Most of every gas station in the US has 93 octane which is HIGHER than 95 RON

Octane is a fuel additive that is required in some higher performing engines to prevent engine knock. Running high octane fuel in an engine designed to use 87 is a waste of money and will do nothing for your vehicle. Use the gasoline that your car calls for and try to educate yourself.
