Not at all. I did hear people having some issues in the past, but didn't see a single park ranger for the week I was there.

The cheater trail is not a 2km hike, it's over 4km each way totalling 8.2 km's and that's without walking around the falls area

You are 100% correct. The distance stated in the video was outdated, we actually took a step-tracker app to measure it ourselves and found that it was in fact 4km.

Google maps. Google earth and Algonquin Outfitters maps are your best friends. You can find the coolest spots with them, just like how we discovered this lake!
