In case non-professional traders don't understand this, Nassim is saying the following: 1. Focusing on YOUR expertise will make you MORE money than spreading yourself thin trying to simultaneously get highly complex options trading to perform better than your expertise (it won't). 2. The more your expertise directly pays your bills, the MORE honest you are about possible outcomes. You're more cautious with knowledge that's ACTIVE. 3. The less your expertise pays your bills, the LESS honest you are about possible outcomes. You're less cautious with knowledge that's PASSIVE. In a nutshell, retail investing is bad. As an even mathematically inclined engineer and researcher who has done my own investing, I agree. Further improving my skills, along with a little marketing and sales, has had MUCH better results. Think of it another way: Should an experienced options trader also perform his own root canal? What if he spends half his days studying everything about it? Will he ever be as good as someone who dedicated the same time towards his options trading career? This is, essentially, a debate on the efficacy about specialization and generalization. But people confuse erudition with generalization. What people forget is that one is about breadth of knowledge and the other is about HOW knowledge is used. You can be a specialist with broad erudition, and arguably a better one than a specialist with only narrow knowledge. You can even contribute to adjacent fields as a specialist, but it's still coming from a place of specialization. A biologist can contribute to the field of trading, but only sparsely as a specialist in biology. Hope this helped clarify this conversation.

I think something at the core of why people are running to people looking for a bootstrapped retail-investing version of what NNT has done is fear. Fear they'll lose their money or "miss out" on the gains he had. If that's the case, consider the following: 1. NNT made a killing with advanced options trading strategies like dynamic hedging. It wasn't from a static strategy where you simply buy and wait for a few months/years. For every win you hear, he dynamically hedged day-in, day-out. The only way you can do the same is if you are a professional options trader who is dynamically hedging day-in, day-out. 2. The average retail investor has only maybe 1-2 hour a day for options trading, which is nothing close to what's required. So, many will passively invest in an S&P 500 ETF and lose everything in a downturn, since they had no time to dynamically hedge like the professionals did. 3. I can bump my income by around 30% by improving the value of my expertise, but the S&P 500 doesn't even have a historical return above 10%. My advise, as someone who ISN'T a professional options trader, is to do the following: 1. Focus on growing how much money you make from YOUR expertise. 2. Whatever money you make and save, buy yourself a decent house and land, and maybe some metals like gold, silver, and/or copper. 3. Any other money you have, leave it to professional investors to handle... or don't be shocked when you lose whatever you had in ETFs because you don't got the time to dynamically hedge yourself. You simply can't be more than yourself, so stop trying to be,

I made the most money I have made on any stock with HIVE. I bought and sold well. I think it is now time to Jump back in. 10x from here is rational if they execute on strategy but even 3x is pretty safe if you think bitcoin will 2x

How can it not?! These endless lawsuits by partisan state Democrats colluding with White House to bring Trump down just because he's leading in the swing states, popular in most of swing state polls. Yet his poll numbers rise. I reckon if they seize his assets, further restrict his freedoms and jail him. They are playing into his hands of making him POTUS in November.
