Has Robert Pollard stopped drinking? It will be awesome that he did. Anyway, they sounded great.

“Love is indeed stronger than witchcraft!!” I love Bob’s sense of humor as he ‘cleanses’ and defies the M*sonic venue. Bob won’t be fooled (again). He knows what’s up. I love him for this recognition. And the rest of the Red blooded band members! Thank you Fading Captain. Big Dave in ATL.

Does any GBV YT’bers remember the “bucket” era (live shows from the late 90’s well into the 2000’s). Many (most times) live shows had a few extra “props” on center stage with the band. Notably, there was usually a couple of 5 gallon empty paint buckets (or just one). Bob’s stage props weren’t pyrotechnics, dry ice/smoke machines, trashy girls, lazers, etc or other weird stupid sh*t that lesser bands would have. He’s pragmatic and saw no need for that extracurricular marketing bs. The buckets usually had a strip of silver duct tape written over w/ a black Sharpie. Bucket 1 was labeled “Piss” / bucket 2 was “puke”. Sometime just one all inclusive bucket. Alongside was a cooler (or two) with Bud Light cans iced down earlier backstage. Let’s not forget the last stage “prop”. They had a plastic Tupperware bowl filled up with a couple about two or more packs of loose cigarettes. Trick or treat style. Ha ha. Last but not least was the presence of a neon sign which would come on just before the band would come out and take stage. This sign was derived from the prominent lyrics from the song “Salty Salute” from the “Alien Lanes” LP. “GBV, GBV, GBV. GBV!!!”

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the sign design. “The Club is Open!”

Something no one at the back of the line saw was the band arrived late in a white van at the back entrance of the store in the alley. The people in the very back of the line never saw them bc they were face forward in line. No one turned around. I was at the back door and the van pulled up everyone except Ozzy got out. I just remember yelling for security and their driver pushed them back into the van. Sharon was in the limo still driving in from the airport. It was so fast. No one saw them and Wayne County Sheriff's came and blocked the view of the door. They pulled their cars up next to a dumpster and no one saw the band enter from the back door off the alley. All of the officers were so star struck. They were so happy to be there working. They loved it.
