What size of parawing is needed to ride in the conditions from 10-15 knots? My board is 135 lt dw, axis spitfire (1550cm2) and I also have a smaller foil (1050cm2) My weight is 95 kgs, and I really don’t know which wing I can ride in the lowest conditions with this board.
@kylemaligroКүн бұрын
In that light of wind I’d go 5.1m. If you get stronger wind consistently then a 4m. Also depends on your skill level.

Finally a real life 5.1m review as all we see is smaller in PW video in Maui or the gorge at 150lbs can see your need for a 4m as I’m 230lb and beach flying my 5.1 in 18mph is power up even with extensive surf/kite/wing background still have not seen a rider retract bag it and redeploy on a 5.1m or bigger and your right on as see no way possible to bag that 5.1 in the PW belt it’s too small need a mesh like big bag kinda like your shoulder bag your testing,interesting take on you shortening your lines,nice video Kyle thanks for posting I’m taking my 5.1 to S America next month to test er out with a DW board but PW waist belt ain’t gonna cut it stowing it away thanks to your advice gotta find a bigger bag to modify PW belt Dougdpfoil
@kylemaligro12 күн бұрын
Right on Doug. Was hoping to do what you mentioned…give a real 5.1m review. Yeah gonna take some practice redeploying this beast. I know it’s doable, just a matter of technique in how you stow it. A good stowaway bag will help too. Good luck in your pw adventures. Lemme know how it goes🤙🏾

Great job. Interested by you cutting the strings down. I have the 6m and find it to be ok length wise. I have spent more time on land, using it with my skateboard and mt board on the sand.
@kylemaligro12 күн бұрын
I had a pocket wing in the past which had really short strings so that was in the back of my head going into this pw. In the beginning days stowing the pw away was really hard. Lines were so long. Strings everywhere. Cutting them down has really helped with deploying and especially helps when you are downwinding as you wanna put that thing away as fast as you can.🤙🏾

Yess, was stoked when I saw your post on the prog. forum and realized it was your review! I’ve got the 4M and had a couple sessions in the kiddie pool trying to sort it out. I’m 150 lbs and started with 85L, then 98L then 55L ML and had the most success with the 55L, but that might just be by virtue of more practice. I made a harness using one of the BRM attachments and a piece of thin gauge stretchy dyneema, made into an adjustable loop with two sliding/locking knots. That seemed to work amazing, allowing me to keep light bar pressure and ride one handed both ways, staying hooked in during jibes. Going upwind was decent and I was able to keep from going downwind pretty well, despite launching from a corner spot with wind blowing into the corner.

Based on your experience, I wonder in the future if BRM 5.1 ParaWing will come with slightly shorter bridles and extensions. I am also hoping they will make the the 3 sets of Bridles different colours. Maybe some type of custom mesh bag will work best for storage when riding. Share your thoughts
@kylemaligro13 күн бұрын
Yeah sure hope they provide different lengths of strings. It’s really helped me cutting them shorter. Still bunch of power and actually turns quicker. Let’s go Greg. Yup for a 5m there needs to be a bigger bag like I mentioned in the review. Also, maybe a different color leading edge on the wing so when it’s in the water you can sort it out easier. For a first run, these are pretty amazing. They only gonna get better.

You’ve got some big skills there my friend. By far the best "real world" parawing vid I’ve seen. How was it redeploying after stashing..?🤙
@kylemaligro13 күн бұрын
Wow what a compliment. Thanks. It’s taken some time to figure out for sure. I haven’t really tried to deploy yet as I’ve had to figure out breaking it down and stashing it easily. It’s in the plan though, today gonna try to deploy.

@chrispewkreme13 сағат бұрын
The reason I like wings is you can get to an outer reef and then surf it and let the wing go. With a kite, you’re always powered up. Kites also seem trickier to launch. This seems like it has the best perks of winging while being able to stash away due to the kite style build.
@kylemaligro10 сағат бұрын
@@chrispewkreme Yeah this is different then kiting and winging. For now this is really sweet for downwinding on smaller boards and smaller foils. Aloha

great video and review. Appreciate the time you put in to make the review. Looks really fun. Can you add your weight to the description? Would help for expectations and sizing. Do you think you could ride the same board/foil with the 4m or would you expect to need to size up? Seems going with a larger mid length and a 4m or below is the best combo based on the reviews. But I have to say you made the 5m look fun too.
@kylemaligro14 күн бұрын
Thanks for the love. First time doing a review, super hard lol! I knew I forgot something... I'm about 155lbs. For sure I could ride same board with a 4m, just so long winds are about 20mph. Yeah I think personally a Mid Length for your size is the way to go for sure. On a really windy day I wanna try my prone board which is like 25L lol! Hope the review helped.

What do you think about using it in the surf? You think you can get going with a sinker?
@kylemaligro14 күн бұрын
I tried a little bit but gonna need more time. A lot of it will depends on the spot and wind conditions. Using a 5.1m in surf can be a bit sketchy. I fell in the surf once and lines were everywhere which can be dangerous. I'm sure a lot easier with a smaller parawing. Enjoy!
