It started off as an ICU visit because of hyponatremia and 5 weeks later via lumbar puncture my mom (60 y/o) just got diagnosed with this. It's a traumatic journey as a family member watching this and I can't imagine what it's like as the patient. She just started the Rituximab treatment. Watching these videos gives me hope for a good recovery.

Years ago, in my early sixties, I saw a strange looking mole on my right forearm. I casually asked my regular doctor what he thought about it. He took one look and his eyes got big. He sent me to a dermatologist. The dermatologist cut the mole out and sent it to a lab. Then I got a call to tell me it IS melanoma and surgery will be necessary. While being prepped for surgery, the doctor could tell that I was not appropriately concerned about the melanoma. He got real serious, looked me in the eye and said, "sir, this could kill you". At that time, I was amazingly ignorant about melanoma. They ended up removing a lot of skin - about 2 inches in diameter and a 1/4 inch deep. They also took a biopsy of the lymph node in my arm pit. Thankfully, that came back benign (negative). They also took some skin from my thigh and grafted it onto the surgery site. My forearm now looks like something took a big bite out of it. Videos like this one do a great job of explaining the seriousness of melanoma.

Very informative and thorough. My mom died of a subarachnoid hemorrhage in 1992. She suffered migraine all her life and became legally blind the last few years of her life. She wouldn't go to the doctor, the stubborn old woman...not old tho, she was only 53. I miss her all the time still, 32 years later.

I'm 45. I used embryo donation. I got pregnant on my first try. I gave birth a week ago..my daughter is so precious and beautiful I had the best pregnancy. I was happy everyday of every hour. The only thing is my parents are not as open minded about fertility. They are those judgemental Christian, I wanted to share the experience with them but, I decided not to. It's really sad. The hood thing is they live out of state so it's easy to keep them in the dark.

These videos with Marty Kelly are superb! I remember how valuable I found them when I had my shoulder surgery a couple of years ago. I'm now fully recovered, have zero shoulder pain, and more mobility than I ever had in my life. :-)

We need nanotechnology and other R&D for manufacturing and biomaterials that can archive the needed methods and techniques to align with be advanced research. Drug manufacturing isn’t the book of life. The language of manufacturing has to evolve.

Milan as well as BCLC are restrictive as regards curative treatment of HCC. Milan relies on morphology alone whereas BCLC is based on patient characteristics along with morphology. Now that we have learned that Biology of the tumor is another major determinant of overall outcome, more and more emphasis is placed on it in planning of treatment ie response to neoadj loci-regional therapies as down-staging protocols and immunotherapy in future.
