My first reaction after seeing the film was "meh". Well-made, well-acted, but "meh". It felt like it didn't need to exist, there was no new angle or insights. But then I heard the director say that the film is designed with newcomers in mind. If you've seen the documentaries and read the books, this film won't really do much for you (although you will appreciate the artistry). If you haven't really heard about the case before, _you're the intended audience_ . With that in mind, rewatching the film, I can see how expertly-crafted it actually is. To hit all of the main beats of what is a 20-year story (if you include the obvious allusions to Terry Hobbs being the real culprit, which only really started around 2007) and in such a short runtime is no mean feat. It is a great piece of work.

The capture video will haunt me until the day I die. It is most heart wrenching thing I have seen. I can't believe anyone could be so cruel. My heart breaks and I hear those calls in my sleep. Thank you John for all you do!!

Like many people I remember when Proposition 8 was passed. Since I'm not from California, I had no say in what the outcome. But I remember feeling *incensed* when California (of all states) would vote to ban same-sex marriage.

Much of those recordings didn't come out so they weren't even played in court. Often the conversation is garbled. That said, she said some very incriminating things on those tapes. I personally believe she might be guilty but her sentence was just plain barbaric.

It comes down to this. Your money is your vote. If you use your money to support Sea world you vote yes to animals in captivity. If you don't use your money to support Sea world, you vote no to animals in captivity! Thank you John, you'll never know how much it means to me that you are brave enough to be the voice for these animals that you love ❤️ 🐳

@@Vittnes She's been in prison longer than some torture-murderers. Example: Gertrude Baniszewski tortured Sylvia Likens to death. The girl was tied up and held in the cellar. Gertrude, with help from other teen kids, burned the victim with cigarettes, kicked her repeatedly in her genital area, forced her in scalding hot baths, starved her and forced her to drink urine and eat feces. Under Gertrude's urging, a teen boy burned the words: "I'm a prostitute and proud of it!" on the girl's stomach. (In fact, she was probably a virgin.) Finally, she died of an injury to her head. Gertrude was paroled after 20 years.

@@Vittnes She admits, "My bad choices loaded that gun." She knows that if she had not been foolish enough to have sex with a 16-year-old high school kid, Greg Smart would be alive today.
