A good investment would be to buy an ultrasonic cleaner, it will deep clean much better than spray on glass cleaner and a brush, plus the UV lamp in an ultrasonic cleaner kills any bacteria on the watch.

Great tutorial! I have a few questions if you don't mind: 1. What type of battery do you use for the replacement? I cant make much from the video 2. Does it need to be shorted after you change the battery? Because some digital watches have to be shorted with a tweezers by connecting the positive and negative post. Thanksss!
@time_keep8 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind words. The battery I used for this watch was LR1130. I don't think it needed to be shorted. Thanks for watching.

Congrats on the watch! I am happy you bought it and as I look more and more at the watch I remember I received it as a gift when I became a police officer. That was in 2007. I wore it for EVERYTHING. That's why it is so filthy. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the video and hope to be able to bid on the watch to add it back to my collection if it works out. parks883seiko

Great video, I recently changed the battery in my G-9000 mudman. I have the positive display version,with the red buttons. I don't know why casio designed and put that plastic piece on the back cover. It only retain all the dirt and moisture. The new mudman and mudmasters don't have this plastic, except for the GG-B100 which also have a double caseback, metal and plastic.
@time_keepАй бұрын
Thank you 🙏🏼 the good thing about the plastic cover on the GG-B100 is that it’s a complete piece. Meaning it covers the whole case back which causes less dirt accumulation unlike the G-9000.
@fuloplehelАй бұрын
@time_keep Yes that's true, I will see when I have to change the battery. But is interesting, casio uses this plastic covers mostly on battery operated watches, making things a little more complicated than it needs to be. The tough solar mudmasters and mudman don't have this unnecessary protection,and they are more expensive. In my opinion it's just increasing the thickness of the watch.
@theoriginalrabbitholeАй бұрын
You should have taken the opportunity to hydrofill the case with food-grade 50 cSt silicone oil and a ten-year battery. I hydfrofill all my Casios. There's other videos on the 'how and why' but I think it's an awesome way to essentially 'everything-proof' any inexpensive watch.
@time_keepАй бұрын
I have done that before and you are right, it is a very cool mod. It is a little messy though. Maybe I’ll try it again and make a video of the whole thing. Thank you for watching 😎
@theoriginalrabbitholeАй бұрын
@@time_keep I get a kick out of watching guys try to implode hydrofilled Casio Duros. They crank up the pressure as high as the water tank can withstand and the Duro just keeps ticking away like one those those old Timex commercials. It's simple physics. If you submerged a water bottle and screwed the cap back on while it's submerged and sunk it, the only difference between what's inside and outside is a thin layer of plastic. It cannot neither burst or implode.
@KopperRookАй бұрын
That's a cool mod but excessive for 99% of people. A G Shock is resilient to over 20 BAR, and practically NO ONE is going to exceed a stock G Shock at that capability. They do look cool with the mod, though.
@Bear-nu8xmАй бұрын
I just started hydro filling my Casios as well. So far, I’ve done an Ae 1500 and a dw5600. I’m a little worried to hydro mod my mud master or more expensive Casios though. It’s super cool to mod Casios though. I also started putting filters of different colours. I’d like to eventually do negative screens and change that aspect too.

Wow, made it to the end, late at night. But, then your work was meticulously and hypnotizing. Do you know much about these particular watches. I have 4 (2 black faces, 1 yellow / black combo, last one green face), wore them while in the Army mounted to the od nylon watch band with the flap type cover to conceal glare etc. Took the watches to a repair shop a couple of days back for batteries. One came back, dead in the water, lcd and second hand not functioning. Any clue as to what part may have failed? Found a small copper wound resistor part on eBay for sale, wonder if that may be the issue. Great vidoe though, think I need to buy the parts, disassemble these for a thorough cleaning, they have been through hell over the decades. Thanks again, my brain hurts from watching this, you have steady hands.
@time_keepАй бұрын
First off, thank you for your service. This video is one where I felt a bit rusty-I'm still learning a lot as I go. There's so much that goes into working on watches. Unfortunately, without having your watches in front of me or seeing pictures of the movements, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what's wrong. Feel free to reach out through my website, and I’ll do my best to help you troubleshoot the issue. Thanks again for watching and for your kind words!

What are your opinions on the Ronda 515 movement? Durable? Well made? I bought a Luminox Atacama Field 1970. Trying to decide if $450 was way overpriced for the quality of the watch.
@time_keepАй бұрын
Ronda 515 movement is highly reliable, provided you stay on top of battery changes and ensure the battery doesn’t leak. Luminox watches are impressive overall, with their value lying more in features like the case, dial, and hands rather than the relatively affordable Ronda movement.

Thank you for your video! I am curious about one thing. It appears that you did not remove, clean and regrease (silicone) the four pushers? Or maybe you just didn't include it in your video? One of them looked like it was fatigued and sunk into the case more than the other three?
@time_keepАй бұрын
I typically adjust the pushers if needed, but I didn’t do it on this watch since they seemed to be functioning properly. The one that appears recessed is actually designed that way. Casio intentionally makes them like this to prevent accidental activation, as they control the watch's settings. I hope that clarifies things. Thanks for watching!
