I grew up in this area (actually lived in Glassell Park, and our house was on a hill overlooking Occidental College). I have seen this area (HP, GP and Eagle Rock) deteriorate and then recover. I understand it has become a very desirable area to live since it is close to DTLA. Many of the buildings I remember as a kid are still there except have been renovated and restored. I worked at Trader Joe’s in Eagle Rock on and off for like nine years. Visited the store in 2018 before the pandemic, and it is nothing like it was when I worked there! I still have dreams when living in that area although it seems foreign to me now!
