What is the liner used in the pot? And how close to the coals does it bake?
@DutchOvenChef2 жыл бұрын
I used parchment paper and the coals were on the top of the oven so maybe six inches.

I have GSI aluminium Dutch oven but want to purchase a cast one for this reason and was wondering if people use an inverted method to do this but nearly all videos do it in the normal orientation. I'm not sure why this isn't done more often, Petromax Dutch oven have legs on the lid to enable the inverted position to have coals underneath without needing a stand as some other brands.

A few comments... 1. The measuring spoon will fit in the Cinnamon can if you turn it around. ;-) 2. When we made donuts years ago, we found getting the sugar on them while they were still hot helped more of it to stick -- BONUS! 3. Our favorite way of doing #2 was to pop it into a paper bag containing the coating and shake it in the bag then set them out to dry/cool. 4. You could have several bags with different flavor mixes in them for participants to try out. BTW, what do you do with the oil when you're finished? Convert it to bio-diesel? ;-) Of course you'd probably end up with some police officers following your car's donut-scented exhaust! I guess that right there might classify it as "hazardous waste!" ;-) Can't wait to try one of these! Also, what about *baking* some donuts in the Dutch oven?
@DutchOvenChef5 жыл бұрын
+Ed Morin Thanks for your comments 1) Yeah. I was channeling Homer Simpson, duh! 2) Totally makes sense. Next time I’ll pull them right out of the oil and coat them straight away. 3) Agree! 4) Wonderful idea! Fortunately we had an extra bottle to capture the extra oil! Take care and thanks for your support. Fran Dutch Oven Chef

@@DutchOvenChef So do you toss the used oil once it's bottled?
@DutchOvenChef5 жыл бұрын
Actually no. Used cooking oil can be recycled at the collection point nearby the North Kirkland Community Center. See info.kingcounty.gov/services/recycling-garbage/solid-waste/what-do-i-do-with/Partner?pid=763&mids=50 I was planning to drive by there to dump the oil and recycle the plastic container we used to collect it.

Hi Everyone, Here's my recipe for Tolt-McDonald Peach Cobbler! Cooking Supplies • 6 quart - 12″ Lodge Camp Dutch Oven • Lodge Parchment Paper Dutch Oven Liners Ingredients • 2 - 30 oz cans of peaches in syrup • 1 package yellow cake mix • 1 tsp cinnamon • 1 stick butter (salted or unsalted) Coals • total: 25 • top: 17 • bottom: 8 Step by Step 1. Start by coating the bottom of your dutch oven with a small amount of butter and add the Lodge Parchment Paper Dutch Oven Liners. The butter will prevent your parchment paper from sticking to the bottom of the oven during cooking. 2. Add the two cans of peaches with juice to the oven. 3. Spread the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the peaches. 4. Cut the butter into even slices and place on top of the cake mix. 5. Sprinkle cinnamon on top of the butter and cake mix. 6. Close up your dutch oven and cook for 45 to 50 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
