Is he doing it outta some sick satisfaction that he knows who she really is or is he playing the long game. Landa knows how the war is gonna end and just wants to antagonize her enough for her to try to terminate the German high command. He was smart, but not smart enough to recognize that Aldo didn’t give a shit about all this politics in the end.

Hans fully knows that there's a plot to kill Hitler by now. I believe this was around '43 or '44 so the German empire was contracting after Moscow was taken from them which was a huge tactical error by Hitler. Hans is "planning for the future" by allowing the assassination to take place.

I love how Landa stirs his coffee. Not in circles but in a horizontal motion. That has a very pragmatic teason. I LOVE the attention to detail.

It was part of his plan to escape by cutting a deal with the Allied forces...by letting her live and continue it meant her plot to kill the hierarchy would be implemented thus allowing him to make the deal...he knew the Fascist regime would fall and he would end up getting hung or shot....Landa was extremely smart...he knew what was going on

Walz made this an amazingly funny and great movie ..stole every scene with menacing charm and character. This , the opening scene with he French farmer and the scenes with Pitt were exuding dark humour and double entendres and barbed wit. I think in this scene , he is suspicious that she is the Shoshana who evaded his near perfect score ....but his Lanz chess mind is letting it play out. Spoiler : Because we see how he executes an about turn plan that shows his utter contempt for his Nazi superiors.

Oh, he MUST have figured it out somehow. Note how he ordered her the glass of milk, almost as if to say, “remember the dairy farm?” And then the cream on the strudel? Strudel during the war would have been made with a pig fat ration. It’s against kosher law to consume an animal and dairy product in the same sitting. He was toying with her. The scene may even foreshadow his actions later by showing off his boredom, if you will, with the Nazis.

He played this SS role too real. There was a constant disciplined psychopath/sociopath vibe with him, and complete sense of hatred towards anything and everything It made you hate his guts. Most SS officers carried similar vibes, perhaps with less charm Some of my family has been shot by SS in early stages of WW2, they shot even the children, after they found my family's son was an officer in Soviet army (just his picture), took them outside and shot the women and children. They used to flamethrower the villages by boarding up the people inside.
