I imagine most people would walk the Frances at least a week shorter than the time it took you, thus saving a lot of money on food and accommodation. I personally only spend about €30 a day, even less on my last one in Portugal as I'd started on the Carnivore diet and so didn't need to eat more than twice a day and didn't waste money on foods high on carbs. One expense you didn't encounter but others may, especially on the Frances apparently, is the cost of luggage transportation. I've never used it so I don't know how much it costs but I know a lot of people do, especially if injured. Enjoyed the video 👍.

I walked SJPDP TO Santiago June / July last year and I averaged €70 per day for all expenses (food, drink, accomodation, things like a sleeping bag liner, plasters etc). I stayed in private rooms every 3-4 nights, when I could get one in the €25-35 range. All of the private rooms I stayed in felt like 5 star hotels, with a private bathroom😂 some of the albergues were wonderful experiences, but I also loved having space every few days to sort my stuff out, do some admin (I had to do my New Zealand taxes while there), etc. Prices had gone up considerably from the prices listed in the Camino app I used (Buen Camino which I highly recommend). You can cut costs a lot by buying snacks in supermarkets, breakfast in local bars (the ones catering to pilgrims are way more expensive), and eat / stay in albergues.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I'm surprised you were able to have so many private rooms and only came out to 70/day. I love that there are so many ways to make the Camino work for any budget.
