Hervey Bay Queensland and Exmouth Western Australia now run tours. Exmouth they are migrating - August / September... do often they are doing pick up and drop for swimmers. We have done sea lion swims on the Coral Coast Western Australia, Baird Bay on the Eyre Peninsula South Australia. Next March we will do sea lion & dolphin swims - Sorrento near Melbourne on the entrance Port Phillip Bay.

Glad we chose Tonga Blue Lagoon in the Vava'u group. Small locally owned family run resort with only 8 guests, 4 fales and 2 boats. AWESOME WHALE EXPERIENCE, AWESOME PEOPLE, AWESOME FOOD... 5 days of whale swim gave as a full cross section.. Heat runs with up to 12 whales pursuing a sole female, 6 then 4. Jackpot on our first day. Over the week.. males hanging motionless singing, breaching was hard to photograph it happens so quickly. Logging.. floating at the surface. Diving and resurfacing. Mother and calves of different sizes, sometimes with one or two male escorts. We like the Tonga licence system. Only 4 guest plus one guide in the water in a whale encounter at a time ... Not every whale is suitable to swim with. Sometimes the boats share a really great swim whale in half hour stints per boat. They help each other. Good for the whales and the guests.

Also try Tohora Bora Bora. Excellent guide and got to see the whale resting and come back up twice. Not too much swimming

Humpbacks specifically, but I would assume it applies to all Marine Mammals. Of course you can, but it's not sanctioned by The Marine Mammal Commission or local governments. Most 3rd world countries don't have the resources to enforce Marine Mammal Laws.

@@dronedrifter2525 you can swim with Humpbacks in : Tonga, French Polynesia, La reunion, Australia and Dominican Republik. There might be more countrys like norway but these definelty allow it.

GoPro 8. The most important thing for the reef fish videos, use a high quality mini tri-pod specifically for GoPros. Nearly all reef fish don't come out until you walk away 10 or 15 feet. Place the tripod/GoPro in a good spot, turn it on and leave it there. Believe it or not, hard French bread is one of the best things too attract reef fish. I broke French bread into thirds and wedged it in the reef 18 to 24 inches in front of the GoPro. If you use a selfie stick the footage kinda sucks.

@@tinamaciej2096 Just remember, it's nature and the whales don't always cooperate. They don't tell you this on the websites or KZbin, but before you spend the money for a swimming with whales tour, understand that they only get you right next to whales 50% of the time. You always see them from the boat, but getting a curious juvenile swimming a few yards away from you doesn't happen with every tour. Just know that going in and I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience.

After a 2020 COVID postponement of our 20th anniversary celebration, a year later we finally made it to Moorea, French Polynesia to the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa Resort. We went all out with the "King Overwater Bungalow with Panoramic View". The 3 to 4 hour ATV Tours are Ok, worth doing once. Moorea Moana Tours has a 5 star rating on Trip Advisor and who we used for the Swimming with Whales Tour. These guys were amazing! NOTE: The is no guarantee you'll get up close and personal with whales on this tour. As a matter of fact, you always see whales from your boat, but swimming within yards of these amazing animals only happens 50% of the time. Nature doesn't always cooperate. Keep this in mind if you consider going on this tour. There are only 2 large tour companies on Moorea. Both are safe and follow all Marine Mammal Laws. There are many private tour companies, use at your own risk. If your in the market for Tahitian Black Pearls, Pearl Romance and Coco Blanc on Moorea are a couple of the best shops for high quality. We bought a lot of pendants and bracelets from both locations. If your on a Budget, go to the Papeete Market for inexpensive Black Pearl jewelry. They are Black Pearls, but the quality isn't very good. Keep in mind that the Papeete Market opens at 7am and closes at 3pm. It's close to the Harbor. The island is only 42 miles around. We rented a car and drove it three times. There isn't very many pull outs to explore, but public beaches & pull outs are beautiful and worth exploring. Try to visit places like Belvedere Lookout during the week. Many of these places are crazy busy on the weekends because families from Tahiti take the ferry over to enjoy Moorea. I was surprised to find out, there are very few biting bugs on Moorea. The Chickens/Roosters are everywhere on the island and eat any bug they come across. Have a great time! Best Regards, Craig

@dronedrifter2525

I'm sure you've already booked, but week days are normally pretty quiet. Since Moorea is so close to Tahiti, many locals simply take the ferry over with their families on the weekends. It's very busy on the weekends. In addition, Belvedere Lookout should be visited during the week as well, lots of locals go up on the weekend and the parking lot is tiny. Black Pearls; if your on a tight budget, go to the open air market in Tahiti. The quality isn't great, but if you want a true Black Pearl from French Polynesia, you can find em cheap there. They open at 8am and close by 3pm. If you can afford a quality pearls, Pearl Romance & Coco Blanc are a couple of the best. We bought from both. Have a great time!

Great info, the most accurate I've seen to what the reality is of whale tours in FP. The only thing I'll correct is that legal boat approach is 100m if it's just adults. If there's a calf involved, then legal boat approach is 300m. So yes, one must be in pretty good shape to "swim with whales" & even then, you might not get an interaction...bc wild animals gonna be wild animals haha!
@Eikenhorst
@Eikenhorst Жыл бұрын
Based on information by Mororea Moana Tours website, 2023 regulations state that "The boat cannot approach the whales closer than 100m (150m for mom and calf)" However, more importantly it states that "No whale activity (observations or swimming with) whales permitted until August 1st"

@dronedrifter2525

The beginning of that walking path is called Tahoe East Shore Trail Head. There's a boatload of parking near Tunnel Creek Café. The trail parallels Tahoe Blvd. which is HWY 28. The spot/bridge where the video is taken is roughly a mile south of the starting point and just south of Incline Village. There is very little parking, so use the parking lot near the café
