To me lighted nocks are a wise investment. If for nothing else than to give you as much advantage as possible to retrieve your arrow and broadhead combo that runs you around $60 to put together.

One of my personal experiment tips is throw away hand warmers, if you don’t use them for the entire stated hrs they are suppose to last, put them in a zip lock bag getting most of the air out and they will cool down fast and then can use them again for most of the remaining time, trust me it works and can save money, don’t toss them or waste it. I should get paid for this mind blowing hack lol your welcome
I would love to hear about the gear you wore for those hunts. I live in North Dakota, and it gets pretty cold here, too, when the right front moves through. If you could shed some light on your layering philosophy, I would be grateful. Keep pumping out the awesome content, bro. It's valuable.

I’ve had great results with the DeePower brand. After hundreds and hundreds of shots only one of a dozen quit working. They fit my Carnivore shafts perfectly and on paper tuning shots I couldn’t see any difference. I was using the aluminum bushing with “ g” nocks so that’s probably why I had no tuning issues. To 30 yards I couldn’t see any noticeable differences in POI, but at 40 yards like 1-1 1/2” low. I made a new sight tape for that drop. All is good to 60 yards. Now, I don’t shoot at game past 35 but you never know ifyou might need a second arrow sent way out there to finish off the kill.

You have to papertune and create your sight tape with the lighted nocks you intend to hunt with. The difference on paper is pretty drastic. Another great video Leigh!

Well, I thought the same for years. A couple years back I got some DeePower brand for my Black Eagle Carnivore arrows. To date I haven’t had but one of a dozen that stopped lighting. And I shoot my hunting arrows a lot. And they fit the shaft and my string perfectly. I did make a sight tape for my single pin. Seriously, the new tape didn’t show change until past 30 yards. At 40 yards it was actually only 1-1 1/2” low after dozens of sight in shots. For the cheap price give them a try. Amazon had them. I’m shooting a 416 grain finished hunting arrow at 272 fps for reference on my trajectory. They have blue,red or green ones. The blue are awesome to watch in the late evening at practice.

I think Dr. Ed Ashby's 12 factors of arrow lethality are legit, however, to ignore the importance of arrow speed and arrow trajectory is to ignore other aspects of arrow lethality, besides just focusing on the design and weight of an arrow system. I started on the heavy arrow journey about five years ago. Over time I realized there were three obstacles to overcome. ONE: Hit the animal in the lethal kill zone before it can significantly move. TWO: Accurately judge the yardage to the animal so you can aim accurately (I am not very good at this much past 20 yards) and THREE: Achieve sufficient penetration thru the vitals. Dr. Ed's factors only address number three. There are only two ways to overcome one and two. Keep your shots close, or shoot a much faster, flatter trajectory arrow set up. I just posted a video showing the trajectory difference between a 400 grain arrow and a 600 grain arrow out to 40 yards. After shooting heavy arrows the last few years and watching them hit high or sail over the backs of multiple animals, I decided that heavy is not lethal, if the hit is not lethal, because it took too long for the arrow to get there, or I misjudged the target animal distance.

@toothofthearrowbroadheadsАй бұрын
@@ryanweston7260 I just don’t see a reason to fletch with left helical in any case. If you’ve already got all your arrows fletched left, it isn’t the end of the world, but you’ll benefit from a right fletch next time. You want everything working in the same direction as the insert threading (which is the one thing we cannot change)

Getting fletching contact on arrow rest with bohning blazer vanes. I have a limb driven rest on my Hoyt vtm 31. I’ve moved the rest cable about 3 or so inches from the tip of the limb but the rest still pops up very quick when pulling the bow back. Any ideas on how to fix this issue?
@toothofthearrowbroadheadsАй бұрын
@@m-1608 you need to colour in your vanes with something that will show where the contact is. I use a tube of my girlfriend’s lipstick, colour the vanes in on all edges and you’ll see exactly where the contact is. If your rest is too low, you can be getting contact on the shelf of the bow even after the rest arm has dropped properly.
