The main character saw the faceling girl, floating in the room above the pool, and was so frightened, he fell down and dropped the camera. Then he began pounding on the door in a desperate attempt to get out of there before he lost his last shred of sanity. The poolroom is the faceling girl's domain and she toys with any who enter her space, feeding off their fear and screams. Her picture is just outside the door before the vertical pool, but our character doesn't realize the significance when he enters. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment! I am working on Part 3 in between life and other projects, but it will be released at some point. Have a great day!

how did we go from having the emiters as a flow fluid to a domain gas?
@Smooth_Shading
@Smooth_Shading 8 ай бұрын
I think you might be confused by the pinned properties panel to the right of the 3D viewport, showing the domain settings. If you go back to 4:44, the video explains the reason behind it. Hopefully, if I understood your question correctly, that will help. Please let me know if it does/doesn't and if you have any other questions. Good luck with your project, I hope it turns out well.

Thank you very much! I appreciate you checking it out and leaving a comment. I used a mask node I found on a channel called Wayward Art Company and modified it to accumulate a dirt texture on the lower portion of the meshes. It's driven by keyframes that increase a factor in the node setup for the z value, that's what makes it rise up the meshes. I don't know if I put that in the description or not. I'm gonna check and add it if I didn't because that channel definitely deserves credit for the mask node setup. They have a ton of great content. Thanks again for the comment, my friend!

I was really impressed when I saw the automotive art you create. It's really cool, a great visual style. So your input is particularly meaningful, as it comes from an artist whose work I admire. Thanks for the great tutorial. So, I'm doing a different project where I need tire smoke during drift. But there's an issue which I'm unable to resolve. So, I baked the smoke sim in openvdb file and when I import it back, the location of the imported openvdb file seems to be shifted to somewhere else and no matter what, I'm unable to align it with the car's tires. I have applied scale, location and rotation of the smoke domain before baking the smoke. Can you help me how to fix this? (Blender 3.5)
@Smooth_Shading
@Smooth_Shading Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the positive comment. You may be able to parent the vdb smoke to an empty. Positioning the empty near the spot where the smoke is generated from might help manipulate it better. Then you can move and rotate the empty to control the smoke. If the empty is patented to the car body then it should also follow the movement of the car during the drift. Let me know if that works or not.
@ibodhi
@ibodhi Жыл бұрын
@@Smooth_Shading That sounds good. Will definitely let you know here if it works :) Thanks for your suggestion 🙏
@ibodhi
@ibodhi Жыл бұрын
@@Smooth_Shading UPDATE : Tried out the Empty method and it proved to be more of a problem than a solution because as my car is drifting and rotating, the smoke also gets rotated and I had to put keyframes everywhere to keep it sane. Also, because of the adaptive domain, the scale and location of the smoke also keeps on changing. So, the closest "fix" I could do is to turn off adaptive domain. The baked smoke sim was relatively easier to handle. I just had to manually fix the location of the smoke by keyframing it. the scale and rotation stays stable. I'm still looking for a better and more precise fix though.
@Smooth_Shading
@Smooth_Shading Жыл бұрын
@@ibodhi If you import the saved vdb file, you don't need the domain anymore, I don't think. If you keep the domain in the scene and bake the smoke sim, it should just follow the emitters that are patented to the tires. I did another tutorial on tire dust that deals with a larger domain, maybe something from that tutorial will help. It can be challenging and frustrating. Sometimes, you might want to delete the domain and emitters and start over. I'll help as much as I can. Keep me posted. Don't give up, brother.
@ibodhi
@ibodhi Жыл бұрын
@@Smooth_Shading Yeah, I don't use the domain after finishing the bake. What I meant was if you're baking the smoke using adaptive domain, then the baked vdb after importing is difficult to keep track of. That's why I found the result of the baked smoke when I turned of adaptive domain much better even though it still need adjustments. And I have deleted the domain and started over so many times that I lost count of. I'm trying different settings. Definitely won't give up, will keep trying till I get the end result! And thanks a lot for your helpful suggestions. Can't thank you enough :)

@Smooth_Shading
@Smooth_Shading Жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm a big fan of RBC. I'm looking forward to using it in future projects. On my PC it works best with a low poly mesh but then I parent the dense models from Transportation to the low poly mesh, make the low poly mesh invisible in renders and the dense model mimics the physics behavior of the low poly mesh. Works out perfectly.

No, though you can do a simplified version of the back portion of the car, make it invisible to the camera, set it as a collision object, and parent it to the car body. The smoke will behave more realistically around it but the physics bake time is longer.
