Says a lot about that panel that the piezo is slowly dying throughout the video. EST2s are probably one of the most unreliable panels ever made.

my 1972 house has a 1972 VPI burglar/fire alarm with dialer. It doesn't currently work but is still installed. Pretty neat!

Check the description or pinned comment for a correction. My original thought is that these were one time use. Heat detectors like that melt an element when activated. You cannot reset the melted element in those models.

Thanks! And cool! Black housing LQM’s are very nice. Also yes, I believe all self diagnostic LQM’s have the emergency mode flashing feature that can be enabled.

I have never seen a exit sign enthusiast with a Mcphilben emergency light or exit sign. I have only 3. Am I the only one with Mcphilben?? EDIT: and if anyone knows did they go out of business?

I actually own a few McPhilben units I haven’t featured in a video yet. McPhilben was owned by Phillips and they decided to dissolve the company and merge it with the Phillips Chloride exit lighting brand.

This indicates the fire extinguisher is overcharged/has too much pressure. Normally this only happens if the extinguisher was refilled with too high of pressure or sometimes if the extinguisher is kept in a space too hot.

The risks of an extinguisher being overcharged is it could leak or explode (usually only cheaper brands could have this risk) or the fire extinguisher will empty too quickly.

First time I’ve seen the white safety tire wrap 5:47 dealt with. I hope my older mother is strong enough that when she pulls that pin that white tire wrap does break. Any thoughts on that comment? Thank you for your help and thank you for the great video

Yes, these are called tamper seals. They are required on fire extinguishers to keep the pull pin secured in place and to prevent any accidental or malicious use. Tamper seals are designed to break when the extinguisher’s pin is pulled. Standards dictate it cannot take more than 15lbs to pull; while most seals only take 10lbs to pull. A great trick when it comes to breaking the tamper seal is to twist and pull the extinguisher’s pin. This gives you more leverage and makes it easier. Thanks for your comment!
