Good stuff as always. Not sure if those coilovers are original but then I'm not up on Gilberns! Certainly my TVR 3000M didn't have adjustable coilovers from the factory. I will be fitting some very soon though. Might just be an illusion but looks like your front wheels might be a little bit rearwards / not quite centred in the arches. Don't know if there is any adjustment to move them forward to give me clearance at the back?
@Mr_Spegru27 күн бұрын
I suspect they are original just because their state matched the chassis as it was. They were even worse to begin with with seized adjusters, two of which had to be cut off (see linked episode). You are right about the arch. I think the whole body is slightly forward of where it could be. I couldnt get it any further back due to internal mouldings so I suspect it was like that from the factory. The wheels are now on spacers which shows it all up more than before. No adjustment is possible but quite alot of bodywork is needed so if necessarily I'll adjust the arch.

I would start reducing the variables in the system. First, power everything from your 12V power-supply. This allows constant injection times for a certain rpm and also keeps your ECU permanently connected to the Laptop. The Laptop-Sw certainly has some form of recording of all the sensor outputs ? What's the flow-rate of the injectors ? Are they original ?
@The_Cotswold_EngineerАй бұрын
Does that engine have an idle stabilisation valve? Did you wire it up if there is one? I think most efi set ups have them, also called an anti stall valve.
@Mr_SpegruАй бұрын
Hello again Mr Cotswold. There is no idle control valve as that's meant to be taken care of by the Drive By Wire setup. I was also trying to keep the revs up with my foot - no no avail unfortunately
@The_Cotswold_EngineerАй бұрын
@Mr_Spegru ah yes of course. It's that part working from the ecu then, and it's not thinking for itself and catching the stall or is it that you need to give it a little more idle speed?
@buckneighkidd419Ай бұрын
Sounds like fuel starvation....but I'm no expert on efi engine's.
@philtucker1224Ай бұрын
That tick over sounds far too slow. Try 950 rpm. (You’re allowing the otherwise very healthy sounding engine to distract you from other more important parts of the project), -which is very frustrating for us!
@Mr_SpegruАй бұрын
Yes - but why?
@johndeer2032Ай бұрын
What should we see here ? Is this fuel pressure on the gauge ?
@Mr_SpegruАй бұрын
@@johndeer2032 yes its fuel pressure. Why so flicckery? Only does this when the engine is actually running though. Possibly the cheapo guage is poorly damped
@Nordic_MechanicАй бұрын
The hissing could be caused by the air squeezing pass the throttle blade. Test with a smoke machine and engine off to be sure

@The_Cotswold_EngineerАй бұрын
Sounds like it might be plus the fact it seems to be hunting a bit too. Though the regular hiss will be the air going past the throttle butterfly.
@Mr_SpegruАй бұрын
Thanks Mr Cotswold I had thought the butterfly would be causing hissing and that noise I heard was 'normal'. But actually it does seem like it could be coming from the back I think we might be onto something although itll be next week before I can do anything more
@The_Cotswold_EngineerАй бұрын
Get a length of coolant house and put one end to your ear and move the other around the engine while it's running. You'll be able to pin point the hiss then!
@kevteare4466Ай бұрын
Spray some brake cleaner around any area you suspect you've got a air leak and the idle speed should rise as it sucks in the brake cleaner 😁
@Mr_SpegruАй бұрын
Hi , @The_Cotswold_Engineer and @kevteare4466. Today I identified an open tube into the plenum. It was hiding at the back. Unfortunately sorting that doesnt seem to have made much difference although the hissing noise is gone.....
