I have never heard of splicing with coloured pencils. I suppose you still have to be good at drawing to get the result. Beautiful artwork

My "trick" was to use a fine eraser to create light and "draw" the whiskers with the eraser. However, this doesn't work well on black pencil and pastel. It's too messy. Still, an eraser is interesting for creating light in a drawing. I use this technique all the time. But for whiskers your embossing trick is priceless. I had no idea.

You use Prismacolor pencil?

I kinda disagree haha, polychromos has way brighter colors, lightfast is definitely more neutral and muted, but, I do agree with you on the Grey's. Faber castell wins on Grey's compared to other brands for sure. Hands down.
