Did you make that howler yourself? I'm just curious. Sounds good! Looks good! (I've been making and selling custom horn howlers for about 15 years.)

Yes, in a way. I took the reed assembly from a Primos Randy Anderson open reed howler and put it into a cow horn I cut and sanded, then fit with a receiver to accept the reed assembly.

That was pretty cool! I had a question in regards to fly tying. Which HMH vise do you have and use in your fly tying videos? Are you happy with it? Any info on it I would appreciate. I enjoy your videos. Thank you

Good evening. My name is Jhonatan, I am a student in the Fisheries Engineering course at the Federal University of Amazonas (Brazil). I am currently developing a scientific project proposal to validate the efficiency and quality of the production of artificial baits for fly fishing. For that, I need one or more published articles that describe methodologies for testing artificial baits like the fly tester. I would be very grateful if you could help me. Do you know any publications in this regard? I wish you success in your work. Thankful.

Nice job. I used to use a pair of loose quarters but admittedly they get lost easily in your pocket and can be hard to hold with cold, gloved hands. BTW, Tapping the quarters together makes a nice barking imitation too.

I have the 2 and 4 weight version of this rod. It looks like the Tfo lefty kreh finesse series. Bought the two weight just to fish the small stream behind my mothers house for sunfish and bass. The fish in those small slow moving warmwater streams can be more skittish than trout in a small stream. Fun times, fishing an ultra light is game changing.

Awesome I love small creeks with light gear! don't listen to dipshits who don't know how to handle a bass. You hold the lower jaw because it locks the fish up so it's not fighting and hurting itself.

jedicazador I'm getting a 5/6 w soon and will probably be fishing the same water, mostly the Buffalo to the Caney Fork, the Red to the Elk. I'll reach east as far as the French Broad on occasion. Tight lines.

Hi. Well I do actually fly fish. I also tie fully dressed salmon flies and trout flies. I use split cane rods and a marvellous invention called a landing net. This saves me pulling the fish out of the water by its lower fuckin' jaw. I practice C&R. Do you do it to make the fish look more aggressive? I'll send you an eBay link for a scoop net if you'd like.

Very, very nice. I started tying popping bugs when I was 14 yrs old, but stopped when I went off to college. My tools & supplies disappear somehow while I was gone and never saw them again. Now I'm 60 and recently decided to get back into tying. Thanks for the inspiration and ideas.

Fishing is awesome no matter what species you fish. I live in California so I normally fish for trout. However when I visit Michigan every summer, I get as much of a thrill catching yellow perch and small mouth bass as when I catch German browns. I’m happiest when I’m on the water.

+waddell77 You can fish for just about any species with a fly rod. I have used a 3wt for panfish, a 4wt and 5wt for trout, bass, etc., and an 8wt for salmon. I have seen people using 10wt rods for saltwater.

+thomabb ......I use my 6 and 8 wt. set ups for inshore salt water species ; Halibut , Bass , Corvina , Perch , Corbina ...... but yea a 10 wt. would be the call for out in the blue water ; marlin , tuna , Dorado etc.
