@@PapalHistory always with the excuses. The Bible is supposed to be the unerring word of God, except for all of its errors and contradictions. The Pope is supposed to be God’s personal representative on earth; ergo the failings of said representative reflect directly on the supposed Deity. Don’t get me wrong; I’m a Deist; but definitely not a Theist. The Bible and its stories do not hold a drop of water when given any degree of scrutiny, how could any culturally specific Iron Age myths do so?

@@CorePathway You sound like your mind is made up already. How did you come to the supposition that the Bible is the "unerring word of God?" The early Christians had the intellectual capacity to understand the difference between poetry like the psalms, correspondence such as letters from Paul, even the Gospel accounts specify when Jesus spoke using allegory and his disciples ask Him why he does so. You seem to be conflation a caricature of 20th century American evangelical fundamentalism with 2000 years of Christian metaphysics, theology and philosophy.

I am unfamiliar with Fr. Mark R. and his work, he is likely using a different index/resource of popes. I can't recall the details, but the Church updated the official list of popes in the 20th century; so, the accounting of papal chronology is not consistent historically. Another case of chronological curiosity is in the line of pontiffs taking the name John, due to an anti-pope of that title. I have Paul III (220), Julius III (219), and Marcellus II (220). Pope Marcellus II reigned a month in 1555, Paul III 1534-49. Not sure if that is helpful. Thanks

You forgot to mention the part where the other 4 Patriarchs of Antioch, Alexandrias, Constantinople, and Jerusalem all denied the pope's claim to supremacy... It was clearly a political play; and you know I'm not one to speak what God's will was or is for others besides to find and live through Christ, but it does certainly seem peculiar that directly following this claim of his that he died.

I disagree with Pope Saint Leo IX's assertion that subordinates can never criticize authority. (The Battle of VIRTUE & VICES p 14-15) That *exaggeration of respect for authority* has harmed Catholics. And it's bad, for those in authority, to be surrounded by YES-MEN. That's also why Bishops covered-up for sexually abusive priests. Bishops believed subordinates should not correct their BAD DECISIONS. But now the laity are paying for the $ lawsuits... so laity have the right to criticize erring Bishops or other authorities.

The female pope is a myth, much like the legend of the woman who disguised herself as a monk and was later found to be a lady. As for a pope younger than eighteen, maybe. Though, the significance of the age eighteen is not a consistent cultural phenomenon across history. For the most part, that particular age is irrelevant beyond the civil and legal codes of nations post 18th century.
